shock. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. For service,

please contact your nominated service agent.

    1. The Hypertec UPS will provide a 220~240VAC 1φ(single-phase)rate

power source. Please verify that this model matches your AC mains /

    load voltage requirements.

    2. The Hypertec UPS must be earthed at all times during operation.

This can be achieved by only connecting the input power chord to a

mains supply socket outlet with an integral earth terminal. A means of

disconnecting the mains supply should be within 2 meters of the

    UPS.

    3. Output sockets on the UPS are electrically live if the UPS is switched

    3

  • ON, even if the UPS is not plugged in to mains supply. The On/Off

button on the UPS does not electrically isolate the internal parts. To

isolate the UPS, switch the UPS OFF first, then unplug it from the

    mains.

    4. To reduce the risk of fire, use fuses with the correct rating when

    replacing fuses.

    5. The UPS relies on your building wiring over-current protection, which

must be rated between 10-16 amperes.

    6. When using the communication features on the UPS, ensure the

cabling connected to the USB communication port are kept

separated by at least 25 mm from the power cords to and from the

    UPS input and output.

Safe Operating Practices This pluggable type A equipment has factory installed batteries, and hence

may be operated by anyone that has read and understood this manual.

During the installation of this equipment, it should be assured that the sum

of the leakage currents of the UPS and the connected loads does not

    exceed 3.5mA.

    1. The mains socket outlet that supplies the UPS shall be installed near

the UPS and shall be easily accessible.

    2. When replacing batteries, replace with the same type and number of

    batteries.

    3. Turn off and unplug your UPS before cleaning. Do not use liquid or

    4

  • aerosol cleaners. A dry cloth is recommended to remove dust from

    the surface of your UPS.

    4. Do not handle any metallic connector before the power has been

    disconnected.

    5. Turn off and unplug your UPS from the outlet and contact your

    nominated service agent if:

o The power cord or plug damaged.

o Liquid has been spilled on the UPS.

    o The fuse blows frequently.

o The UPS does not operate even when user follows

    the operating instructions.

    5

  • Battery Information 1. CAUTION: Do not dispose of batteries in a fire, the battery may

    explode.

    2. CAUTION: Do not open or damage the battery or batteries, as

released electrolyte is harmful to the skin and eyes.

    3. A battery can present a risk of electric shock and high short circuit

current. The following precaution should be observed when working

on batteries: Remove watches, rings or other metal objects. Use

    tools with insulated handles.

    4. NOTE. The batteries used in your Hypertec UPS are maintenance

free. This means that you DO NOT need to check the battery fluid

levels. Trying to do so may cause injury to yourself, or may cause a

fault with the battery / UPS.

    5. The battery backup runtime is affected by the state of charge of the

batteries, the age of the batteries and general condition of the

    batteries.

    6

  • Introduction The Hypertec UPS can instantly switch your computer to emergency

battery backup power and allows you to work through mains power

outages without data loss or downtime. It continuously conditions the

power coming into your computer and provides a power source with

    virtually zero interruption.

This UPS is specially designed for PC users and also suitable for

computer peripherals or POS. A microcontroller is used as the main

controller that renders the product an intelligent UPS, capable of

self-protection and fault diagnosis. A built-in AVR function automatically

adjusts itself to maintain a power supply of stable voltage when the utility

power is of high or low voltage. High-performance surge suppression

protects your computer from electrical noise and damaging power surges.

Performance Your Hypertec UPS provides the following high performance features:

    • Uninterruptible Power

Protects your data by supplying battery backup when power fails.

    • Microcontroller Control

By means of innovative software control programs, the complicated

hardware circuitry is inlaid in the powerful microcontroller. Apart from

reduced size, it also lowers the rate of UPS failure.

    • LED Indicators

    7

  • Operational status is indicated by a series of 3 easy to read LED’s.

    • Audible Alarms

Actively lets you know if the unit is in battery mode, if the battery is low, or

if there is an over load condition.

    • High quality battery

The selection of high quality sealed lead-acid maintenance free batteries

maximises the life span of the battery for prolonged performance and

    enhanced economic benefits.

    • Automatic Detection

When the UPS is turned ON, it immediately performs an inspection of the

    battery capacity.

    • Automatic Voltage Regulation

Corrects over and under-voltages, without draining the battery. This

preserves battery resources and ensures your UPS will provide the

optimum runtime and optimum voltage source during a power blackout.

    • Surge Protection

Protects hardware from damage due to unexpected power surges.

    • Automatic Charge

The UPS charges its battery whenever it is connected to utility power. The

UPS can be in either the ON or OFF mode.

    • Auto Restart (Cold Start)

If the UPS has shutdown during a battery backup session due to

discharged batteries, the UPS will automatically restart once mains power

has been restored to supply mains power and recharge the batteries.

    8

  • Installation Instructions 1. Inspection

Inspect the UPS upon receipt. The packaging is recyclable. Save it for

reuse or dispose of it properly. Ensure the UPS is physically undamaged

    due to transit.

    2. Placement

Install the UPS in a protected area with adequate airflow, and away from

direct sunlight and excessive dust. Do not operate the UPS where the

temperature and humidity is outside the specified limits in the

    Specifications Table.

    3. Connect to Mains Power

Connect the AC input power cord to a socket outlet to power up the UPS.

The battery in the UPS will lose some charge during shipping and storage.

It will recharge completely after approximately 8 hours of normal operation.

Do not expect full battery run time during this initial recharge period.

    4. Connect the loads

Plug the loads into the output sockets on the rear of the UPS. Ensure the

UPS is sized correctly so that the UPS is not run at full load constantly.

Caution: NDO NOT connect a laser printer or plotter to the UPS with other

computer equipment. A laser printer or plotter periodically draws

significantly more power than when idle, and may overload the UPS.
