Newer refrigerators sound different from older refrigerators.Modern refrigerators have more features and use newertechnology.

Do you hear what I hear? These sounds are normal.

HUMMM...--WHOOSH...

• Tile new high efficiency compressor may run fasterand longer than your old refl'igerator and you may

hear a high-pitched hum or pulsating sound whileit is operating.

• You may hear a whooshing sound when the doorsclose. This is due to pressure equalizing withinthe refl'igerator.

CLICKS, POPS,CRACKS and CHIRPS

• You may hear cracking oi" popping sounds when the

refl'igerator is first plugged in. This happens as therefl'igerator cools to the correct teinperature.

• The compressor may cause a clicking or chirpingsound when attempting to restart (this could take

up to 5 minutes).

• The electronic control board may cause a clicking

sound when relays activate to control refl'igeratorcomponents.

• Expansion and contraction of cooling coils duringand after defl'ost can cause a cracking or poppingsound.

• After an icemaking cycle, you may hear the ice cubes

dropping into the ice bucket.

WHIRl

• You inay hear the fans spinning at high speeds. This happens when the refl'igerator is first pluggedin, when the doors are opened fl'equently or when

a large amount of food is added to the refl'igeratoror fl'eezer compartments. The fans are helping toinaintain the correct teinperatures.

• If either door is open for over 3 minutes, you may

hear the fans coine on in order to cool the lightbulbs.

• The fans change speeds in order to provide optimalcooling and energy savings.

WATERSOUNDS

6• The flow of refl'igerant through the fl'eezer cooling

coils may make a gurgling noise like boiling water.

• Water dropping on the defl'ost heater can cause asizzling, popping or buzzing sound during the

defl'ost cycle.

• A water dripping noise may occur during the defl'ostcycle as ice melts fl'om the evaporator and flows intothe drain pan.

• Closing the door may cause a gurgling sound due to

pressure equalization.
