God does not force love upon us. Rather, we are called or beckoned into God's presence. When we respond to that call, we are also inviting God into our presence. That is, we are acknowledging that God is with us all the time.


Matthew 11:28-30 (NLT)

28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”


Jesus calls us to him, stating that through him all is made well. When Jesus shares our burdens, they are suddenly not so overwhelming. Jesus offers us rest for our souls. As this season spins out of our control, reflect on Jesus' offer of solace and rest.


God of love, God of promise, God of hope, we turn the cares of our souls over to you. Gentle, humble Jesus, thank you for lifting our burdens and giving us peace in our hearts. Amen.
