Various Ink refills are part of what make the Copicsystem truly amazing. All 358 marker colors have

a matching bottle of ink. Each bottle will fill a dry

marker up to 15 times, depending on the style of

marker. Measuring guides are built into the bottle,

assuring easy and precise refilling. Each bottle of

ink has a built in dropper tip for simple application.

If needed, an additional Booster needle can be

attached for even more precision. The airtight inner

seal will prevent the ink from drying out for many

BOOSTER METHODFor Sketch & Ciao Markers

1. Remove the Broad nib from the marker.

2. Attach the Booster needle to the top of the

Various Ink bottle (A).

3. Add 2-3 ccs of ink.4. Replace the nib.

5. Clean the Booster with rubbing alcohol.

For Classic Original Markers

1. For Classic markers, carefully insert the

Booster along the side of the nib.

2. Add 2-3 ccs of ink using

the Various Ink bottle to see

the measurement (B).

3. Clean the Booster with

rubbing alcohol.

Tips: Always replace the caps.

The Booster tool is sharp.

Relling Copic MarkersDRIP METHODThis method applies to all marker types

1. Uncap both ends of the marker, hold

at an angle & drip ink onto the Broad nib,

one drop at a time, checking fullness

every few drops.

2. Dab any excess ink with tissue and

clean any spills with rubbing alcohol.

Blender - so many uses for just one solution. This clear

liquid is the basis of all Copic inks. This alcohol-based

solution bleaches inks by pushing color through the

back of the paper. This tool is useful in a range of

standard and experimental techniques.

Adding highlights

Fading to white

Coloring transparent objects

Pre-soaking paper

Fixing mistakes

Replacing the Nibson any Copic Marker

1. Using the Tweezer tool, pull the

Broad nib out of the marker; for

Brush nibs be sure to grip the nib

rmly at the base.

2. Carefully insert the new nib.

3. The ink will wick from the inside

out within a few moments.

1. Using the Changer tool, pull the nib straight out.

2. Insert the new nib carefully, making sure to line

the wick up correctly.

3. Ink will ow in a few moments.

Tips Frequent removal of nibs will cause poor

contact with ink.

Only remove when they need to be replaced.

Do not use dry or bent nibs.

When replacing the ink cartridge, pull out the

nib before putting the new cartridge in.

Adding colorful accents and decorative motifs on a wide variety of

surfaces is easy with Hot Ribbon. Follow these basic guidelines for

bonding Hot Ribbon directly to fabric, paper, leather, and wood.

Step 1: PreparationSet the Mini Iron to medium and place it in a ceramic mug for safety and

convenience. Allow approximately 5 minutes for the Mini Iron to heat up.

Remember that the shaft of the Mini Iron gets hot as well, so be careful how

you hold it. Set a full-sized iron to medium high in preparation for nal bonding.

Prepare a padded work surface, like an ironing board or folded towel. Find some

small, sharp scissors and keep them nearby.

Step 2 | Create Your DesignIdentify your starting point and consider how to lay out the ribbon. Keep in mind

how the ribbon will stack as you add layers; you may want to lay down the ribbon

on the edge of your design last to achieve a cleaner, nished look. Use the Mini

Iron to tack down one end of the ribbon at your starting point. Iron along the ribbon

as you guide it with your ngers; let it ow naturally around curves and avoid

pulling on the ribbon. Trim off any excess pieces of Hot Ribbon from your design.

Rotate your work and change positions as necessary to make nice, accurate cuts.

At corners, ends, or sharp curves, cut the ribbon at an angle that matches the

shape of your design. Cut a corresponding angle in the next piece of ribbon before

you lay it down. You should allow a small overlap between pieces of ribbon, but try

to avoid building up too many layers. If you make a mistake, immediately pull up

the ribbon. If necessary, reheat the ribbon to release the adhesive (you may not be

able to reuse that piece of ribbon).

Hint:Use steel wool to clean the adhesive residue

off the Mini Iron after applying Hot Ribbon.

Step 3: Make It PermanentCover the completed design with a non-stick pressing sheet. With a full-sized

iron set to medium hot, press down in one spot for 30 - 40 seconds. Repeat this

process until you have permanently bonded your entire piece.

Tempered Glass Transfer Method*For more complex projects, you may want to build your design on a pane of

tempered glass and transfer it to your nal work as one piece. Draw out your

design on a piece of paper and place a pane of tempered glass over it. Follow

the same steps as described in the Direct Method, tracing your design with Hot

Ribbon while tacking it to the glass with the mini iron. Once complete, use an

artists palette knife to lift your design off the pane of glass. Place the design on

your nal piece and make it permanent with the full-sized iron as described in the

Direct Method directions.

Tips: Save small scraps of Hot Ribbon for delicate

pieces. You can also slice the ribbon down the middle

for ner lines, and it wont fray!

*Make sure you are using tempered glass so it wont

shatter or be damaged by heat!
