Self-elevating platforms (jacking rigs and self-propelled jack- up barges) provide a flexible and safe working environment. The IJUBOA three-day Manager Course is specifically developed to assist Shore based Jack-Up Barge Company Managers Construction Clients, Wind Farm/ Renewable Operators, Port Authorities and other users of Jack Up Barge Operators’ services and equipment to understand the key operational and safety aspects to consider when requesting a Jack-Up Barge, either Self Propelled or Non Propelled. This course offers participants a detailed insight into the operational risks and associated mitigation controls, specific Jack-Up Barge requirements and information needs as well as an understanding of Geotechnical data and Site Specific Survey requirements. Course Objective The course objective is to provide participants with an overview of the specific elements of a Jack-Up Barge, the unique activities and associated operational limits and the role and responsibilities of the Client, the Operator and Contractors in the supply chain. Course Delivery The course is targeted at persons who are responsible for the selection, utilisation and requiring operations from a Jack-Up Barge to deliver their required project needs within their company. The course is designed to specifically cover the unique aspects of the different types of Jack-Up Barge used today including; • Regulatory Frameworks • Geotechnical Requirements and Site Specific Surveys • Management of Jack-Up Barges • Seabed Hazards • Preparation and Barge Mobilisation • Elevated Stability • Installation on Site • Weather Considerations and Storm Survival • Floating Stability • Roles and Responsibilities Qualification information When the course is successfully completed an IJUBOA Award will be awarded to the participant along with an IJUBOA Blue Book for the individual to log ongoing training and experience in practice.
