This summer has been very good for the club and club related events. For the most part, we have dodged most of the rain and had exceptional weather on the days important to us. Now let’s hope this is not a jinx on all the upcoming events. The end of July saw the club take the “Club Participation Award” at the Sycamore Car Show. Thanks to all the members who were able to get out to that show. It was very nice to see some different faces in the group. The following week we had a great turnout at “The Summer Daze” car show in Warrenville. Where once again, we won the “Club Participation Award” along with a good number of individual awards. This is very impressive as the cars are actually judged and scored rather than the typical participant or people’s choice voting. What a great group of Camaros we had on display at this show. I appreciate all members who came out on a very warm summer day. Thanks to Bruce for organizing the meet location allowing us to arrive in a thunder of Camaro power. The weather also cleared up nicely for the second Cruze & Cue Cruise Night at Zeigler Chevrolet in Schaumburg. While I was not able to attend due to a roofing project for my son, I understand that the club turnout was again very good. Let’s keep it up at future events for our sponsors. The ICC picnic was also another wonderful event with a large variety of side dishes to accompany the club provided dogs and brats. The weather was beautiful with sun, mild temps, low humidity and a wonderful setting, however, the attendance was on the lighter side. I’m not sure if there are just too many other events going on this time of year or if there is a lack of interest. I would like to here member’s thoughts on future club picnics. Thanks to Rory for getting the club food and the grills for cooking. We are still having issues with members responding to the events. The events are listed in the newsletter, posted on the web site and followed up with e-mails and we are often on the verge of cancelling the event before we get the needed replies. Please don’t wait until the last minute to reply. As most of you have heard by now, Brian is not running for reelection as Secretary for the 2017/2018 term. If you are interested in the position please contact Brian (contact info on page 2) for his insight. I would like to thank Brian for all his help and he said he plans on remaining an active member in the club. Elections for the board positions of Vice President and Secretary will be held in November for the 2017/2018 term and nominations are open through the end of October. Anyone who wishes to run for these positions must have two active members nominate you and nominations should be emailed to me no later than October 31 st , 2016. Here we are, it’s already September and summer has almost slipped past us once again. Now with only a few more weeks of regular cruise nights and a couple of ICC events before this season will be over. Time flies when you are having fun with good friends and great cars. We can only enjoy the time left and get out and drive! Speaking of driving, I hope everyone that enjoys adventurous driving has signed up for Muscle Car Adventures at Chula Vista Resort at Wisconsin Dells, September 9th -11th. This was a great time last year and with all the open back roads in Wisconsin, there are places to enjoy the muscle under your hood. (Not recommended in residential areas). There are both scenic tours which are more leisure drives and spirited tours which will be driven a little more aggressively depending on your driving style and interests. They also offer free Hot Laps at the Dells Raceway Park for those with a desire to try some race laps. The club will also be getting together for dinners and social events in the evenings. Hope to see many of you there. If you are going on this trip please RSVP to Rob Davis at [email protected] so he can keep you in the loop as to the activities club members will be doing in the evenings while there. Our Fall Colors Cruise and Brunch will be on Sunday, October 2. We are returning to Timber Creek Golf & Banquets in Dixon again this year. This is an interesting drive with several meet-up points along the way to get the group together. The food is great and Timber Creek reserves parking spaces for all our cars to park together. The tour will be led again by Rob Davis for this “spirited” cruise through the back roads on our way to Dixon. Check the ICC Events Page for more information and RSVP to Rob Davis at [email protected] for a head count. A totally different driving event is the Mecum Auto Auction on October 6th – 8th at the Renaissance Convention Center in Schaumburg. What a great chance to drive cars that you may otherwise never have a chance to sit in. I would not say they are all great cars, but they all have their own personality, which makes the adventure so much fun. We are still short on drivers scheduled for Thursday and Friday so if you can join us, contact Rory Smith at [email protected]. The fall ICC meeting has been changed to November 19th at K1 Speed in Addison. The meeting will be for elections of Vice President and Secretary. Refer to page one for nomination/election info. Also, please let me know if you have any items you would like to get on the meeting agenda. We have requested to get back to the Chicago Auto Show for 2017. I have been in contact with Chicago Automobile Trade Association to request a spot for our display. They have indicated that it is a little early in the process to know what space they will have available but we are on their list of clubs for 2017. More details to follow. ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS: we are still in need of several volunteers to fill club positions. We are looking for two Event Directors, an Apparel Director and a Webmaster. These positions are very important for the health and longevity of the club. For all of you that would be interested in putting in a few hours of your time for the betterment of your club, please contact one of the board members as soon as possible. Thanks for everyone’s participation and hope to see you all at upcoming club events. Terry L. Frisch President Illinois Camaro Club

And now a word from our Secretary... Hi all ICC members, My name is Brian Letarte and I'm the current secretary of the club. The end of this year will complete my 2nd term (4 years) as secretary. Unfortunately, I will not be running for the secretary position for the upcoming term due to a busy schedule in my personal life. I will stay an active member of the club and help out whenever I can. I will still organize and run our clubs springtime Quaker Steak and Lube cruise to New Berlin, Wisconsin. I have enjoyed being part of the "behind the scenes" running of the club and being part of keeping our great club moving forward in a positive direction. As we move into our 30th anniversary of our club in 2017 it is important that we have great volunteers to keep our club alive! At the end of this year the secretary and vice president positions are up and open for nominations (more info on being nominated for these positions and elections will be in an upcoming newsletter and email) and the secretary position will need to be filled so a brief description of this position is handling the mailing out of the monthly club renewals, mailing out new member and renewal membership cards and information, club sponsors certificate (with frame for new sponsors), keeping minutes at club meetings, attending board meetings (few times throughout the year) this is a general overview of what this position requires. If you have any interest in this position please feel free to email me at [email protected] or call at 262-208-9082 to discuss in further detail on what it all entitles. Please, also remember, don't just assume someone else will do it so please step up and help fill our few vacant positions... It's the only way to keep our club going! If you are interested in being nominated for the secretary (open position) or vice president positions (2 year term positions) or would like to volunteer for event director, apparel director, website director (these are non term position’s) please contact myself Brian Letarte, Terry Frisch, Rob Davis, or Rory Smith Best regards, Brian Letarte Secretary Illinois Camaro Club [email protected] 262-208-9082
