About The IMHO IMHOwasfoundedin2003intheUnitedStates,byhealthcareprofessionalswhorecognizedadesperateneedinbringinghealthcaretoimpoverishedcommunitiesinlesser‐developedregions.IMHOisaregisteredtax‐exempt,501(c)(3)non‐profit,charitableorganizationintheUnitedStatesandisaregisterednot‐for‐profitorganizationinCanada.IMHObelievesthatanemphasisonprimaryhealthcareisessentialtoimprovingthephysical,mentalandsocialwellbeingofindividualsandcommunities.IMHOrespondstomedicalneedsincrisesandworkstodevelophealth

careinfrastructureandhealthservicesinunderservedareasworldwide.

*NutritionOneofthemostbasicandcriticallyimportantneedsofthoseinmarginalizedareasisthatofpropernutrition.Assuch,IMHOiscommittedtosupportingthebasicnutritionalneedsofthosethataremalnourished,especiallywomen,children,andtheelderly.IMHOsupportspregnantwomenbysupplyingfreeprenatalvitaminsandnutritionalsupport.Itcostsjust$100tosupportapregnantwoman'svitamins&nutritionsupplementsforthedurationofherpregnancyandensurethatshegivesbirthtoahealthybaby!Similareffortshavebeensupportedinfeedingchildreninspecialneedsschoolsandorphanages,eldershomes,andmore.IMHOhasalsosentshipmentsofnutritionrelieftoIDPsandthoseaffectedbythe2004tsunami,yearsofcivilconflict,andotherhardships.

*EmergencyReliefIMHOrespondsintimesofcrisisfollowingnaturalandmanmadedisasters,havingsupportedreliefeffortsthroughoutSriLanka,Burma,Bangladesh,Pakistan,theDemocraticRepublicoftheCongo,andtheUnitedStates.Partneringwithlocalimplementingpartnersineachcountry,IMHOhelpstogetsurvivorsaccesstomedicines,nutrition,healthcare,andotherbasicnecessities.

*Hospital&ClinicDevelopmentDevelopinghospitalsandclinicsinunderservedareaswherefacilitiesandqualifiedpersonnelarelackinghasbeenacornerstoneoftheIMHO.Withtheoverarchinggoalofimprovinganddevelopingthehealthcareinfrastructureintheseareas,IMHOhassupportedamyriadofeffortsinhelpingtoimprovefacilities&resources,trainandempowerlocaldoctors,staff,&students,andprovideotherformsofsupportasneeded.OneofIMHO’sstrengthsisthatitcaneffectivelyrespondtotheimmediateneedsandrequestsofthoseonthegroundwhoknowthesituationintimately.Theseeffortshavecutacrossmanyfields,includinganesthesia,cardiology,gastroenterology,oncology,pathology,pediatrics,nephrology,surgery,telemedicine,andmuchmore.

*MentalHealth Incommunitiesthatareoftenshapedbythestruggletosurviveandhavebasicneedsmet,mentalhealthcareisfrequentlyoverlooked.IMHOrecognizestheneedtoinvestinlong‐termmentalhealthcareservicesforthoseinneed,havingestablishedmentalhealthunitsandclinics,along‐termcarefacilityforwomenwithspecialneedsinSriLanka,providinggeneralsupportandtrainingformentalhealthworkersandpatients,andsupplyingothermedicinesandequipmentasneeded.
