Presidents Report I can hardly believe it is February already. Pos-sibly it is the fact we are so busy, and time is fly-ing by. In the remaining months we have our normal meetings, Mirboo North Golf, fellowship events, Day on Oak Street, ANZAC 100th at RSL, Royal Melbourne Golf Day, Conference, our Farmers Market starting, Cluster events, Rotary Day and not forgetting Changeover Night. Once again Richard’s secret supply of guest speak-ers produced a winner. Geoff Bransbury’s talk was not only interesting but informative and with a good dose of humour. My geography knowledge was updated when I realised where Vladivostok is but also how far it is from London, and I applaud Geoff for his courage to tackle a solo motorbike ride be-tween the two. It was also good to hear from Anna O’Connell from the Cheltenham Community Centre, about how our donation enabled them to reach out to so many young children. TKHNO: VPNQKRKI RK LKMKM MKRKOOP My name is Geoff Bransbury. I live in Melbourne with my wife “Merry” and our two dogs…Our chil-dren, Stuart and Lucy are grown up. I love them all to bits.

My motorcycling is probably a “Post Mid life crisis” but I must thank Lucy for it. She was in Mexico City in late 2009 and was staying a Hostel. She met a South African who was travelling from New York to Patagonia. I was talk-ing with Lucy on Skype and said “I would love to do that Lucy!” She immediately said. Dad, get off your backside and do it…or words to that effect. She’s correct. Life is for living and here I go. Merry is NOT keen on bikes but is CRAZY about horses. She is a terrific rider. She gave me a leave pass for my big adventure later in 2011 when I went to South America

After my “biking rebirth” following my chat with Lu-cy, I went straight out and bought a motorbike. Actually, I used to ride motorbikes some 45 years ago. I had a beautiful 250 cc Matchless and toured Europe at age 18… which is a few years back now! My first step was a “rider refresher course”. Vital for anyone coming back to motorcycles.

My second step was an overseas trip. This was to Nepal, India and Bhutan with Asian Experiences. There was a group of six riders plus a support vehi-cle. It was a fantastic trip and the group was great. we all got on famously. We rode Royal Enfield 500cc Bullets.

My next trip to South America started on 3rd De-

cember 2011. I ship my bike to Buenos Aires and

off I went.

My next trip was from Russia to London.

Geoff gave an entertaining presentation filled with anecdotes and pictures in a particularly engaging style. The following pictures are just a small selec-tion of the 67 in his presentation.
