  • Holy Communion to those who cannot get to Mass The Archbishop has kindly agreed to Commission 6 new Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion. These kind volunteers are part of a “Family Bubble” of someone unable to get to Mass. Extra Pyx have been purchased. If YOU are a practising Catholic and would like to assist in this important Ministry (towards someone in your “bubble” who cannot attend Mass) please consider volunteering and attend at the Garage, at the side of the Chapel House for Training (and “PVG-type” & Requests-to-the-Archbishop), on any of the following Times & Dates: Tuesday 22nd September at 7.30pm OR Thursday 24th September at 10.30am (barring a funeral) or 7.30pm.

October Devotions It is proposed that the Litany of Our Lady and the Prayer to St Joseph are recited at the end of Mass on “October Mondays” (barring a funeral). This would then allow families & households simply to recite the Rosary itself at home (or before Mass). [To allow evening devotions we would require: Track & Trace, extra Ministers of Welcome & extra Sanitisers.]

First Holy Communion were postponed due to COVID-19. They are now planned for each & every Saturday morning Mass (10am) for the whole of October. This means that other parishioners should make OTHER ARRANGEMENTS on Saturday mornings throughout October as ALL the places are “booked” by First Holy Communicants and members of their family. We hope you understand. D.V. each Mass will be live-streamed via YouTube & Facebook, courtesy of Holy Cross Stream Team.

Finance For those who are able (without putting their own security at risk), could you consider a payment, automatically through your bank, or directly from your electronic banking to the parish account? Please Contact the parish for Parish Bank Account details: [email protected]. Private Pilgrimage to the Shrine to Our Lady at Nethercroy last Sunday by Fr Joe. Rosary, Prayers & Ave Maria (by Soloist: Jean Tullan) were recorded & uploaded onto the Parish Facebook & YouTube Pages. Well done all concerned! As Parish Priest, Fr Sullivan formally declared Our Lady to be “Protectress of Holy Cross, Croy People” (after the Pope’s example re Roman People). We take this opportunity to congratulate those who maintain the Shrine so beautifully, especially James & Cathy McCann. Nor do we forget the kind co-operation of Forestry Commission (on whose land it lies).

Flowing Water at the Shrine to Our Lady at Nethercroy is not quite “Mains Water Standard” so be aware of this if you choose to drink it. Many thanks to Westfield Caledonian & J Bowman for ar ranging the Microbiological Test. Certificate of Analysis is available for perusal in the Porch area.

Vocations Awareness Week ends 20th September. You may wish to recite the Holy Rosary either as an individual or as a household for Vocations to the Diaconate/ Priesthood & the Religious Life.

World Day of Migrants & Refugees is next Sunday 27th September. Pope Francis writes: “…I have decided to devote this Message to the drama of internally displaced persons, an often unseen tragedy that the global crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has only exacerbated. In fact, due to its virulence, severity and geographical extent, this crisis has impacted on many other humanitarian emergencies that affect millions of people, which has relegated to the bottom of national political agendas those urgent international efforts essential to saving lives… In the light of the tragic events that have marked 2020, I would like this Message, although concerned with internally displaced persons, to embrace all those who are experiencing situations of precariousness, abandonment, marginalization & rejection as a result of COVID-19…” Full text www.vatican.va/content/francesco/en/messages/migration/documents/papa-francesco_20200513_world-migrants-day-2020.html
