The Treaty of Versailles imposed a huge debt on

Germany that could be paid only in gold or foreign

currency. With its gold depleted, the German government

attempted to buy foreign currency with German

currency, but this caused the German Mark to fall rapidly

in value, which greatly increased the number of Marks

needed to buy more foreign currency.

This caused German prices of goods to rise rapidly which

increased the cost of operating the German government

which could not be financed by raising taxes. The

resulting budget deficit increased rapidly and was

financed by the central bank creating more money.

When the German people realized that their money was

rapidly losing value, they tried to spend it quickly. This

increase in monetary velocity caused still more rapid

increase in prices which created a vicious cycle.

This placed the government and banks between two

unacceptable alternatives: if they stopped the inflation

this would cause immediate bankruptcies,

unemployment, strikes, hunger, violence, collapse of

civil order, insurrection, and revolution. If they continued

the inflation they would default on their foreign debt. The

attempts to avoid both unemployment and insolvency

ultimately failed when Germany had both."

Although the inflation ended with the introduction

of the Rentenmark and the Weimar Republic

continued for a decade afterwards, hyperinflation

is widely believed to have contributed to the Nazi

takeover of Germany and Adolf Hitler's rise to power.

Some economists,

however, point out that

Hitler's rise was immediately

preceded by the 1931

economic crisis, which,

while also being partially

triggered by Germany's

debt, was, unlike the

hyperinflation crisis of 1923,

characterized by massive

deflation created by a

government austerity

program. Paul Krugman

concurred that the "1923

hyperinflation didn’t bring

Hitler to power; it was the

Brüning deflation and

depression."

rate soared from 15.7% in 1930 to 30.8% in 1932.

Brüning expected that the policy of deflation would temporarily

worsen the economic situation before it began to improve, quickly

its creditworthiness. His long-term view was that deflation would, in

any case, be the best way to help the economy. His primary goal was

to remove Germany's reparation payments by convincing the Allies

that they could no longer be paid.

Adolf Hitler's rise to power began in Germany in

September 1919 when Hitler joined the political party

known as the Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (abbreviated

as DAP – German Workers' Party); the name was

changed in 1920 to the Nationalsozialistische

Deutsche Arbeiterpartei – NSDAP (National Socialist

German Workers' Party, commonly known as

the Nazi Party. This political party was formed and

developed during the post-World War I era.

Nazi Party was anti-Marxist and was opposed to the

democratic post-war government of the Weimar

Republic and the Treaty of Versailles; and it

advocated extreme nationalism and Pan-Germanism

as well as virulent anti-Semitism.

Hitler's "rise" can be considered to have ended in March 1933,

after the Reichstag adopted the Enabling Act of 1933 in that

month; president Paul von Hindenburg had already appointed

Hitler as Chancellor on 30 January 1933 after a series of

parliamentary elections and associated backroom intrigues. The

Enabling Act—when used ruthlessly and with authority—virtually

assured that Hitler could there after constitutionally exercise

dictatorial power without legal objection.

The Nazi efforts to "co-ordinate" the Christian churches

(both Roman Catholic and Protestant) were mostly

unsuccessful, and were largely abandoned. However, the

churches as a whole did not present any serious

opposition to Hitler.

In the 19th century, German engineers dismantled the altar

and took it to Berlin. The so-called "Throne of Satan" went on

display in the city's Pergamon Museum in 1930, just in time to

inspire one of the most brutal dictators the world has ever

seen – ADOLF HITLER.

In1864, a German engineer paid a visit to

Pergamum. Carl Humann got permission to

excavate the ancient city himself. What he found

was one of the greatest monuments in ancient

history: the Altar of Zeus.

Stone by stone, the altar was excavated and taken to Berlin,

where it was reassembled and placed in its own museum.

The Pergamon Museum opened in 1930, with the altar as its

centerpiece.

Seat of Satan Moved to Germany!!!

Eventually, the altar caught the eye of a young man named

Albert Speer, the new chief architect for the Nazi Party. Germany’s

new chancellor, Adolf Hitler, had commissioned him to design the

parade grounds for the party rallies in Nuremberg.

For inspiration, Speer turned to the Pergamon Altar.

In the middle of the grandstand, where the bronze Altar of

Zeus stood in ancient Pergamum, Albert Speer built Hitler’s

podium. Hitler wanted to create what he called a "mass

experience," and Speer came up with the perfect idea.

Antipas was sentenced to death on the Altar of Zeus. Most of that

altar still survives today, and surrounding it are some of the world's

most famous marble friezes. They depict the Gigantomachy,(See

our study on Giants in the Bible) or the battle between the Greek

gods and the giants. At the top of the altar was a hollow bronze

bull, designed for human sacrifice.

They would take the victim, place him inside the bull, and they

would tie him in such a way that his head would go into the head of

the bull. Then they would light a huge fire under the bull, and as the

fire heated the bronze, the person inside of the bull would slowly

begin to roast to death. As the victim would begin to moan and to

cry out in pain, his cries would echo through the pipes in the head

of the bull so it seemed to make the bull come alive.

From 1933 to 1938, hundreds of thousands of people gathered at the

Zeppelin field in Nuremberg every September for the Nazi Party

Congress. But it was the 1934 rally that captured the attention of the

world, thanks to what may be the greatest propaganda film of all time.

“The 1934 party film, Triumph of the Will, which was released in 1935,

is the consummate picture of Hitler,” says Santoro.” No other film was

ever made of Hitler, and he didn't want any other film made of him.

Everything that he wanted people to know about the Nazis is in that

film. It was shown continuously for 12 years in Germany.”

Triumph of the Will was directed by a young German actress named

Leni Riefenstahl.

“She was a famous movie star. I would characterize her as the female

Indiana Jones,” says Santoro. “She was pretty and shapely and

popular and romantic. Hitler's a bit of a romantic, and so he liked her.”

Hitler's popularity skyrocketed after the release of Triumph of the

Will. The next year, more than a million Germans came to

Nuremberg to hear his speech.

provocative behavior of Jews. This law is an attempt to find a

legislative solution. If this attempt fails, it will be necessary to

transfer [the Jewish problem] ... to the National Socialist party for

a final solution."

It was also in

Nuremberg that Hitler

used the phrase “Final

Solution” for the first time

in public.

Hitler's "Final Solution" is

now known as the

Holocaust, a word that

comes from a Greek word

meaning "a wholly burnt

animal sacrifice."

In AD 92, the faithful martyr Antipas died, a "wholly burnt

sacrifice" on the altar of Zeus in Pergamum, the place the

Book of Revelation calls "the Throne of Satan."

Centuries later in Nuremberg, in the center of a redesigned

Pergamon Altar, the bronze bull was replaced by a podium.

From there, Adolf Hitler announced his "Final Solution" to the

sixty percent of the Body of Christ across the

world has already entered into the

tribulation. There is no way to escape it.
