Welcome Back!

Well, where did those six weeks go? I hope you had an enjoyable summer, despite the atrocious English weather. It is wonderful to see all of the children back in school, eager to learn, looking very smart in their Chancel uniform. An especially warm welcome to all of the new pupils and staff who have joined our school, I hope you enjoy your time here with us at Chancel.

As always the school remained a hive of activity, during the six week break; enabling myself, the Chancel team and several contractors to ensure the high standards associated with this school are maintained, including: new playground markings in the two-year-old outdoor area and KS1 playground; drains jet-washed and cleaned; new windows in the school hall; the original wooden school doors returned to their former glory (with special thanks to Mr Darnley for his hard work); KS1 classrooms and inner lobby painted (special thanks to Mr Cupitt, for his hard work and Elmore Kitchens for the donation of a worktop); new furniture and blinds installed in our KS1 classrooms; and windows and guttering cleaned (with thanks to Rugeley Window Cleaning - Mr & Mrs Stuart).

I would like to take this opportunity to make some staff announcements:

Over the summer holidays Miss Dodd (Reception Class teacher) got married and is now Mrs Gamble - huge congratulations to Mr & Mrs Gamble from all at Chancel.

Mrs Wakelam is expecting a baby, due in December - huge congratulations to Mrs Wakelam and her family. Mrs Wakelam is due to go on maternity leave in early December, when Mrs Fountain will begin teaching Y1.

Mr Leese is our new Y5 Class Teacher - a very warm welcome to Mr Leese.

I look forward to working alongside you and your families over the forthcoming year, and would like to thank you for your continued support for our school and your children’s learning - if I can be of any help, at any time, please do not hesitate to contact me. Mrs Blankley

Digital 5 A Day Diet

The Children’s Commissioner for England has launched a campaign aimed at parents and carers to help them to encourage their children to enjoy the online world without being totally consumed by it. The campaign, Digital 5 A Day, is based on the NHS’s evidence-based five steps to mental well-being, and gives children and parents practical steps to achieve a balanced digital diet. The five elements of a good digital diet are: connect, be active, get creative, give to others, be mindful. For more information go to:

https://www.childrenscommissioner.gov.uk/2017/08/06/digital-5-a-day/
