  • Before you begin, ensure there is a level working space where you want to install the unit. Lay the unit cover sheet in the working space before you place the unit.≥A higher working space is recommended, such as a

desk, for ease of attaching a mounting bracket or removing a reinforcing plate.

Unpack the container box according to the following procedure.1 Unpack the container box for shipping,

detach the side plates, and remove buffer materials.

2 Lift up the unit to move it to the work area.≥Stick your hand into the gap between the unit and

the box, and hold the bottom of the unit to lift it up. Since the back of the unit is heavier, keep the unit balanced with several people.≥ In the working space, prepare each module

following the “Installation” ( 18) and then move the unit holding the bottom.≥Be sure to follow the instructions on page 15

when doing the work.≥Accessories are stored in a box to the rear of the

    unit and beneath the unit.

  • The unit can be installed in a 19-inch rack with a rectangular mounting frame holes ( 9.6 mm (0.38q) is recommended) and a depth of 1000 mm (40q) that conforms to the EIA standard. The 19-inch rack must withstand load of 100 kg (220 lbs) or more, and a height of 10U or more (Base Module (LB-DH80): 6U, Bottom Module (LB-DH81): 4U).≥ Leave a space of at least 1400 mm (56q) at the front

so that all magazine drawers can be pulled out for maintenance.≥Determine the position in the lower part where the

Bottom Module is to be installed. The lower part of the Base Module is placed in the 4U upper position from the lower part of the Bottom Module.

1 Check the front and rear spaces in the rack.≥ The mounting brackets of this unit can be

adjusted in three levels. Refer to the dimensions below to adjust the mounting brackets for the Base Module. Adjust the mounting brackets for the Bottom Module to the locating hole position used for the mounting brackets for the Base Module.

2 Check the front and rear spaces of the panel mount frame.≥ The panel mount frame can be installed in the

space between 660 mm (26q) and 790 mm (31q).≥Adjust the position of the panel mount frame of

    the rack as needed.

3 Attach the supplied support angle.≥Check the direction of the support angle.≥After placing one side on the support angle hook,

attach the hooking position on the mount frame so that the other side is positioned parallel with the other side.

4 Secure the support angle to the panel mount frame.≥Use the four supplied M5 screws for each

support angle.≥Use a clip nut, if supported, for the panel mount

    frame of the rack.

  • Lifting it with a handle of a magazine drawer on the front of the unit may result in magazine drawer damage. If you wish to move the unit, refer to “Installation” ( 18) and be sure to move it according to the instructions.

The weight of the Base Module is about 45 kg (100 lbs) without magazines, and the maximum weight is about 68 kg (148 lbs) with 76 magazines stored. The Bottom Module is about 22 kg (49 lbs). Please note the following to prevent personal injury or damage to the unit when moving it.≥Observe local regulations regarding safe

handling of heavy equipment.≥When installing or moving the unit, remove all

magazine drawers to reduce the weight of this unit.≥When lifting or securing the unit for installation or

removal, be sure to have two workers or more with non-slip gloves do the work.≥ For details on how to attach the panel mount

frame, make sure with the manufacturer of the 19-inch rack.≥When moving the unit, hold the shaded area at

the bottom (shown below) and move it horizontally.Never move the unit holding the handles of the magazine drawers, upper surface of the insert, or the handles at the back of the unit.

≥Before using a rack, fix it on a level floor with bolts.≥Do not place heavy objects on the unit or climb on

top of it.≥ If something other than this unit is mounted on

the rack, be careful so that the support angles or this unit does not interfere with other products.≥Do not place the unit in areas exposed to oil

smoke, steam, humidity or dust.≥Do not place the unit sideways.

≥When inserting this unit to the back of the rack, press the area as instructed. Do not press the LCD panel, power button, or magazine drawer.≥Be sure to use the mounting brackets to secure

the unit to the 19-inch rack before mounting a magazine.Otherwise, an earthquake may cause disruption to operation or damage the magazines in the equipment.≥Panasonic assumes no responsibility whatsoever

for any damages or accidents resulting from installation, connection, and handling unless the proper procedures are followed.

NoteWhen a temperature difference between the unit installation room and the unit storage location is equal to or higher than 15 oC (59 oF), leave the container box for shipping at room temperature for 12 hours or more prior to unpacking.

    15

  • 1 Remove the metal fastening of the changer unit. ≥ The changer unit is secured by a metal fastening

during transportation to restrict movement. (Two sides: left and right)≥ The metal fastening will be used to position the

    Base Module. ( 19)

2 Attach the supplied mounting brackets to the left and right of the unit.≥Use the two M3 screws provided for each

mounting bracket.≥Check the shape and orientation of the mounting

    brackets to attach them correctly.

1 Remove the top panel of the Base Module (LB-DH80).≥Remove four thumbscrews and one M3 screw.

2 Unlock all magazine drawers.≥ Insert your hand in the module and then push the

unlock lever.≥When unlocked, the magazine moves forward

    slightly.

3 Draw the magazine drawer.≥Hold the handle of the magazine drawer with one

hand and pull it toward you, and while supporting the bottom of the magazine drawer with the other hand, pull it completely out.

≥The lower front part of the bottom magazine drawer on each side has a convex shape, so place the drawer vertically, not horizontally.

the bottom for protection of the unit during transportation.Remove six screws and then remove the plates. Store the screws and the plates safely.

≥Before drawing out the magazine drawer, make sure to unlock it. Drawing out the magazine drawer by force may cause damage to it.≥Do not draw out the magazine drawer too hard.≥Do not put your hand in the unit from the opening

of the magazine drawer.≥Do not step on, hang from, or lean against the

magazine drawer, or perform any other actions that result in applying too much force on it.≥Do not leave the magazine drawer pulled out.

≥Remove the tape affixed to the four thumbscrews at the back of the unit prior to installation, and make sure the thumbscrews are fully tightened. ≥ If the thumbscrew is loose, tighten firmly.≥ If the installation is completed with loose

thumbscrews, it may damage the unit or cause heavy objects to fall.

    17

  • Installation

Install the Bottom Module (LB-DH81) on the bottom shelf of the rack and install the Base Module (LB-DH80) on top. When extending a module, the Base Module and the Extension Module (LB-DH82) can be arranged in any order.

1 Have workers on both sides of this unit hold this unit and place it on the support angles of the rack.≥Place the unit close to the right panel mount

frame.≥ If there is no work space above the module when

installing the unit at the top of the 19-inch rack, attach the top panel before installation. ( 21)≥ For more information on the part to hold the

module, please refer to “The part to hold when moving the unit” ( 15).

2 Insert the unit all the way into the rack until the mounting brackets touch the panel mount frame.≥Press A lightly and insert the unit further into the

back of the rack along the right panel mount frame.
