The PDM platform is a multi-site architecture to handle low latencies in China and India
EMEA is the master PDM database “in sync” with :
• Teamcenter PLM for Part and CAD Design data relation, CM process, ..
• xDM for 3D models for standard component
Scopes: • support the design collaboration
with MCAD NX and Solidedge• Design Knowledge sharing and

Application
– Project BriefIntegrated Product Documentation to Support Business Processes
Project Scope
Starting from 2012 Philips Lighting, BG-Professional has decided to re-define and standardize • working methods, • tools and services for Technical Product Documentation management and made them available for business users across Europe that concerns seven 8 different geographical locations(around 200 Teamcenter End- Users).
Drawings Specifications Instructions Datasheets
• Specification of components and finished goods• Quality aspects related to the specifications• Manufacturing and assembly documentation• Commercial data
Business Impact
Impact of a well defined, correct and accessible Technical Product Documentation
‘Improve quality by “First Time Right” approach in Development’ Specifications, test and release procedures unambiguously defined and available (no misunderstandings with suppliers, release criteria well defined)
‘Delivery reliability’Quality aspects of components and finished goods guaranteed – no disruptions of the manufacturing process caused by out-of-spec components and/or undefined manufacturing process
‘The future footprint’Product re-allocations will not be hampered by re-doing the TPD – less time needed for re-allocations
Drawings Specifications Instructions Datasheets
Goals
✓ Status of the data for a part or complete product is clear.
✓ Ownership is clear.
✓ Single source is managed.
✓ Proper revision control is in place and changes are traceable.
✓ Same WOW is deployed in all sites to support multisite collaboration.
✓ Technical documentation is accessible for all relevant parties.

Teamcenter Data Model
• We use two types of item within Teamcenter
ITEM : 3D Model, assemblies, product assemblies
DOCUMENT : drawings, specification (TPD, APD)
We have used OoB objects; Items & Documents that are already in the system in order to
minimize the customization.

TC4SAP – Connecting Teamcenter & SAP
An application that synchronizes
TPD related information into SAP
database. In order to ensure both
databases are in sync and aligned
in terms of TPD identification,
ownership and status.
PDM • Document Authoring.
