• Association football is the most popular sport in the country closely followed by cricket.

• Club Dam is the only country club won the Asian Cup Winners only once in 1989 after winning golden goal for the Iraqi police team, which culminated in Qatar and the Gulf Cup champions twice, in 1992 and 2005 in the territory and to their constituencies.

• The Asian Football Confederation's 2011 AFC Asian Cup finals will be held in Qatar in January 2011. It will be the fifteenth time the tournament has been held, and the second time it has been hosted by Qatar, the other being the 1988 AFC Asian Cup.

Visa Requirements

• Qatar adopts a visa-exemption policy for more than 30 countries, as well as the GCC members, to boost tourism. The current regulations are applicable to GCC residence permit holders.

• Business Visas are issued to businessmen who have applied in advance.

• To obtain a tourist visa, the individual should have traveled into the country by Qatar Airways. Fourteen-day visas are usually given by the Immigration Department at Doha International Airport.

Culture

Doha has got a cultural heritage places which includes:

• Al Koot Fort - Built in 1880, during the Ottoman period, this big white fort is located in what is now the parking lot of Souq Waqif. At the time it was built, however, the fort was located on the outskirts of the city. Though the fort was formerly used as an ethnographic museum, the building is now currently closed, though still a popular place to take photos.

• Clock Tower - located next to the Grand Mosque, this old clock tower features Arabic numerals on its face. The tower is also located on a hill, and as such offers some wonderful views of the Corniche.
