INTERNATIONALWATERSTOPS FOR CONCRETE

Concrete structures are only as watertight as the waterstops thatjoin them. Greenstreak waterstops stop leaks before they start...in the joints of concrete structures. Since 1950, Greenstreak has served the general and architecturalconcrete construction industry. Innovation, engineering and quality craftsmanship are combined to produce products of choicefor the industry’s owners, designers and contractors. Greenstreak maintains its position of industry leadership byresponding to the unique needs of our customers. Greenstreak’sdedicated technical and customer service stas are active participants in the concrete industry to take advantage of thelatest technological advances, communicate with our marketand analyze trends. Centrally located, Greenstreak products are readily availablethrough a dedicated network of Concrete Forming andAccessory Distributors both nationally and internationally.

WATERSTOP BASIC USE

Embedded in concrete, across and/or alongthe joint, waterstops form a watertightdiaphragm that prevents the passage offluid through the joint.

SUGGESTED WATERSTOPDESIGN CHECKLIST

u Determine structure typeu Verify chemical containment

requirements (if any)u Verify hydrostatic head pressure

requirementsu Determine joint type and joint

movement requirementsu Verify joinery details of dissimilar or

non-symmetrical waterstop profiles(consider using one profile throughoutto simplify intersections)

u Specify ribbed profile for best watersealing performance

u Specify type and size (by product number, if possible)

u Specify factory fabrications of intersec-tions and heat welded field butt joints

u Specify method for securing waterstopin position (hog rings, grommets, etc.)

PVC WATERSTOP

u The industry standardu Broadest design selectionu Formulated and compounded by

Greenstreaku Manufactured by Greenstreak from

only prime resins and all virgin raw materials

u Great inherent elasticityu Resistant to many waterborne chemicalsu Heat weldableu Will not discolor concrete or produce

electrolytic actionu Suitable for above or below grade

applications

GREENSTREAK PVC Waterstop isavailable in two grades:

—Specification Grade (-40°F/-40°C)

This is the most utilized grade for standardconstruction projects. PVC SpecificationGrade, the industry standard, is maintainedin stock.

Independent laboratory tests are availablefor the following applicable standards:

u Corps of Engineers CRD-C572-74u Bureau of Reclamation C902

—Arctic Grade (-58°F/-50°C)

PVC Waterstop is specially formulated toretain its physical properties and perfor-mance in excessively cold environments.

Requirements available on order to meet:

u Ontario Hydro Standard M-264-81u Canadian General Standards Board

TYPES OF CONCRETE JOINTS

Contraction (Control) JointContraction joints are designed planes of weakness to control thelocation of cracks due to shrinkage of concrete.

Expansion (Isolation) JointExpansion joints separate or isolate abutting concrete structures(walls, slabs, footings columns) protecting them from compressive

stresses that may develop due to thermal expansion, settlement, creep, live load deflections, drying shrinkage or crush. Differentialmovement at these joints can be both lateral and transverse.

Construction JointConstruction joints are determined by interruptions in the place-ment of concrete.

Sheet Drains

Basic Use: GREENSTREAK® DrainageSystems are lightweight, one sided planardrains. Geocomposite Sheet Drain enhanceswaterproofing systems by reducing hydro-static head pressure on subgrade or retain-ing wall structures. Geocomposite DeckDrain provides horizontal planar drainagefor storm water control under pavers.

Advantagesu Reduces hydrostatic pressure and loadsu Reduces deadload on horizontal decks

by replacing aggregateu Eliminates drainage aggregate stockpiles

on tight job sitesu Minimizes freeze-thaw damageu Lightweight and easy to installu More economical than aggregateu Enhances waterproofing systemsu Protection board for membrane

waterproofingu Easy to ship, transport and store

Deck Drain

DECK DRAIN, .43 in. (10.92mm) thick with 1 in.(25.4mm), center-to-center peg spacing, is designedfor horizontal applications with exceptional flow andhigh compressive strength requirements. DECK DRAINis a sturdy product that withstands rough handlingand abrasion due to thermal expansion and contrac-tion of deck materials. DECK DRAIN may also be usedfor vertical applications where soil conditions dictate amore open filter fabric.

FORM LINERSForm Follows Function Greenstreak® Architectural Concrete Form Linersmake it easy to pour interesting detail into a structure…without pouring in a lot of money.

Greenstreak Form liners are available in severalgrades and are ideal for texturing tilt-up, cast-in-place and precast concrete.

Greenstreak Form Liners are attached to the forming system or casting bed prior to concreteplacement. After normal placement and curingtime, the form work and liner are stripped, leavingan architectural finish in the concrete.
