Be still and know….
Be active and grow…
Tandara Lutheran Camp is a non-profit
organisation and an arm of the Lutheran
Church of Australia - Victorian/Tasmania
District. Tandara was built by the Lutheran
Youth of Victoria and was opened in 1969.
Since then Tandara has had many
improvements and today offers heated
dormitory styled accommodation with
ensuites for 120 guests, large recreation
hall, lounge room and meeting room, BBQ
area and large grounds in the most
beautiful area of the Grampians.
2020 will be the 7th year that Tandara has
offered Internships to our youth. Through
the program we have seen young people
grow to a new level of Spiritual maturity
and then into leadership roles in the
community. Tandara will be offering
several young people to undertake this
year of
opportunity and
maybe a future
in camping at
the conclusion
of this year.
Why become an Intern??
An Intern year is very different from any
other job! It is a year of serving others, a
year to focus on Christ at the centre and
a year of personal discovery and growth.
During this year you will learn about
relationships with others, encourage-
ment, listening, conflict resolution and a
year of change! The main tasks are to
assist with the day to day running of the
campsite. This will include - food prep,
cleaning and maintenance work,
programming with school groups and
providing Christ centred hospitality to all
to all groups during their stay. However
an Intern year is much more then this.
Interns are led through experiences
based on deepening their faith and
growing together as a team. This includes
organising work priorities, hospitality,
first aid, customer service, working with
people with disabilities, leading outdoor
activities and policies and procedures.
What does the future hold?
Many of our Interns have progressed on
to become effective leaders in the
community, Church workers, work at
other campsites, school teachers. We
encourage the best to apply for a career
in camping.
What qualifications will this give me?
Certificate III in Sport and Rec
Certificate IV through ALC
First Aid CPR Certificates
LCA Professional Standards training
Sacrifice
God refines and matures us through the
tough times. Life at Tandara involves
repetitive work (you will clean the same
toilet many a time!) living and working in a
small staff community in county Victoria.
You need to be willing to sacrifice your
personal time and space. You will miss out
on things that may be happening back at
home. The blessing comes from being a
servant and being willing to put others first
before yourself.
How do I apply?
