Athlete Ana Dias When one day some one write the history about Algarve athletics, the main female athlete of all time is sure to be the athlete of Faro, Ana Dias. Born on January 15 of 1974 in Conceição de Faro, Ana Maria Guerreiro Dias, is the brightest Algarve athlete ever. Ana Dias, represented Portugal in four consecutive Olympics. In the 1996 Olympics (Atlanta) in the 5,000 m, in the 2000 Olympics (Sydney) in the 10,000 and in the Olympic Games of 2004 (Athens) and Beijing (2008), at the Marathon (21,195 meters). Ana Dias was a athlete of Sporting Clube de Portugal from 1995 to 2004, where it was awarded three times with the Stromp Prize (assigned by Sporting Clube de Portugal) in the Athlete category in 1995, then in 1999 in the category Special and finally in 2000 in the category Special World. Having as coach Fernando Barão, also represented the House of Faro and Benfica and in the Portugal Marathon Club, with the best brands: 5000 meters - 15:26:41 (2001) 10,000 meters - 31:39.52 (1999) Marathon - 2-28:49 (2003)

Currently, preparing for another "race" in her life. This one with a very special flavor. Being a mother.5 months pregnant is at rest in competitions as part of the current direction of the Athletics Association of the Algarve, elected in December 2012 and is part of the team's Technical Center march and run from Vila Real de Santo António.Interview:

1 - How old were you when you started your career?A: I started athletics with 13 years (1989)

2 - What kind of competitions did you enter?A: In Cam.Nacionais, Camp.Europa, Camp. World, Cross Country and Track and Olympics.

3 - What kind of athletics did you prefer? Why?A: I prefer middle distance because that is the discipline that I started and did my whole career but I like all disciplines of athletics.

4-Tell an incentive to people who are starting this career.A: There are many incentives that this modality since welfare, health and self-esteem, as well as meet new people and make friends.Meet new locations where the tests are performed.There is also the constant goal to always do more and better. Overcome our best brands and results and the opponents brands too.

5-How many hours do you train daily?A: I train an average of 4 hours per day divided in bi-daily workouts.

6-Have you ever won a prize or a medal? If so, how many?A: Yes, I’ve won eleven medals in cross country.

7-The test that more marked you?A: The first participation in the Olympic Games in Atlanta (1996 - 5000 meters).

8-How do you

manage your time in order to train every day?A: As a professional athlete, after a morning workout follows by a rest period (or massage) to return to training in the afternoon.

9-How does it feel to participate in the Olympics?A: It is the realization of a dream of a child and of any athlete is the biggest competition of the World and was a huge proud to represent Portugal in 4 Olympic Games.

10-In what year did you went for the first time to the Olympics?A: In 1996 in Atlanta in the 5000 meters.

11- In what modality did you participated in the Olympics?A: In 1996 Atlanta - 5000 meters, 10,000 meters 2000-Sydney, 2004 Athens-Marathon; 2008 Beijing Marathon.
