Little more than fifteen minutes and, in many cases, the first film. It’s clear that the wellspring of short films is still the film schools and nascent producers and direc-tors. Even so, established film-makers are increasingly opting to work in the full-length format alongside these brief pieces in which ingenuity, talent and creativity appear to proliferate. Perhaps this is the format that allows for greater risks to be taken, one which brings together all the genres without distinction. In this sense, documentary, fiction or animation all adapt perfectly to the small stories that the film-maker’s vision may decide to condense into a short film. At Catalan Films & TV we have witnessed how this format has been gaining ground and making a name for itself in shows and festivals as a full-grown format. Attesting to this are success stories such as the Sundance Best International Short Film Prize awarded to La ruta natural by Àlex Pastor (Escándalo Films) and the Berlinale Best International Short Film Prize for Ricardo Íscar and Nacho Martín’s El Cerco (CECC-Parallel 40) and its subsequent nomination for the European Film Academy awards (EFA). I urge you to browse through the pages of a catalogue replete with great little productions that are starting out with us on the shortest way towards an international audience.

We cross town, entering the homes on the main street, from the city limits to the center and as far as the river - the end. Following this route, one notices the evolution from the poorest homes to the wealthiest, passing some public places, too. TranshumantsTranshumants

Directed by Martín Moze Acosta

Synopsis:

The concept of ‘’transhumance’’ means to seek out the best ‘’humus’’, the best people, the best ground. It means walking. This story takes place in the streets of Barcelona’s Raval district. It is about a Moroccan family and their need to make a dual journey: an inner journey, asking themselves about forces, passions and emotions; and an external, physical one, related to the need to get out, to walk, to believe and to survive.
