Flamefast’s Project Management Team has a wealth of experience spanning many years in planning and executing a wide range of workshop installations, from small to large scale projects including both new builds and full or partial refurbishments. We work with the client, architects, builders, educationalists and our trusted suppliers to plan a quality workshop that meets your curriculum needs, whilst being delivered on time and on budget!Flamefast’s project managers all have a technical, engineering and educational background and so are acutely aware of new developments in the practical D&T curriculum, their vision and understanding of this means they can advise, specify and recommend the right balance of resources and the most appropriate equipment to meet the needs of the timetable and designated teaching areas, to support a flexible learning approach. Understanding the teacher’s needs means they will always recommend and suggest the optimum classroom layouts and designs taking into account space and budgets as well as creating a stimulating and safe working environment for students.

Detailed floorplans are created in CAD or REVIT 3D (BIM 2 Compliant), to optimise work space so you can see your ‘virtual’ workshop come to life in both 2D and 3D formats. Before Flamefast get started with the installation, final drawings will be submitted with amendments if needed for client approval and sign off.Flamefast will always include ‘safe working areas’ for all equipment items as these dimensions are critical for FF&E contractors, architects and consultants in preparing and ensuring workshop/tech room layouts comply with current statutory regulations especially DfES Building Bulletin 81.

WORKSHOP CONFIGURATION

Mechanical and electrical specifications ensure that your workshop will meet the necessary standards in terms of electrical phase & loading, type of connection, machine weight, fume & dust extraction needs and gas flow rates whilst conforming to current PUWER 98 (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998) Regulations. Flamefast will supply, data sheets and CAD Layout drawings showing specifications, loadings and exact locations for:

Effective dust and fume extraction systems are individually designed and installed by Flamefast’s specialist extraction division. They are fully tested and certificated upon handover (maintenance, instruction and log sheet manuals for dust extractors) complying with current HSG 258 requirements.

Flamefast’s project managers oversee the installation of your workshop and ensures the process is as smooth as possible, and that your project is delivered on time and on budget. Installation is always carried out by our own CSCS certificated engineers, good planning makes for a trouble-free workshop and our engineers will stay on-site throughout the installation and final commissioning to make sure all statutory requirements covering HSG258 and BS 4163:2007 are met including the securing and bolting down of machinery, the fitting of key switches, machinery guarding and emergency stop/start buttons. Full equipment testing is completed, so you’re left with a fully compliant and operational workshop that you can begin using straight away. A final compliance check is completed before handover to the client.

On-site training is part of your package. It’s carried out by our qualified and experienced technicians who will ensure all users are familiarised with the workshop and its machinery. Once your workshop is fully installed and operational, the Flamefast team are on hand to assist with any queries you may have. Where applicable and to assist the teachers by having a phased induction programme before the workshop is handed over, training courses on selected equipment are available free of charge at Flamefast’s training centre based in Warrington or distributors training facilities.

Flamefast’s comprehensive maintenance and support packages ensure your workshop is fully tested, compliant and meets current statutory and regulatory requirements.Our gas registered service engineers conduct annual maintenance checks to prevent any issues going forward. We’ll report back to you with any further work that may be advisory so there are no hidden surprises. A full service and maintenance report on all machines is provided. This will assist technicians and teachers when planning annual inspections and LEV testing, it will also recommend any repairs or upgrades.

Flamefast offer comprehensive servicing and maintenance contracts, ensuring all equipment achieves its expected Life cycle. We offer a bespoke package to suit your needs ensuring you meet all current legislation and Insurance requirements.

Annual Service, Inspection & Reports

All fixed machinery is serviced, adjusted and tested. A comprehensive report is produced on every machine detailing the condition, together with any recommendations for major faults or minor repairs necessary to maximise the efficiency/prolong the machine’s life or meet current Health & Safety standards.

LEV testing & Fume cupboards

We can offer a combined package or a stand-alone service for LEV & Fume cupboard COSHH Testing.

Our trained Engineers carry out a full LEV test using the latest hi-tech equipment and provide detailed copies of the test results, together with any recommendations applicable.

All machines, equipment and processes that produce dusts, fumes or vapours must have a suitable means of Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV). These systems or individual units must be tested annually (No later than 14 month intervals which is a Mandatory requirement under COSHH 2002 intervals).

Flamefast hold company insurance policies expected within this industry to include Product Liability, Employers Liability, Public Liability, Professional Indemnity, and Commercial Airside.

In order to be recognised as competent by the HSE, all Flamefast engineers undertaking the commissioning, examination, testing or design have the appropriate BOHS (British Occupational Hygiene Society) qualifications, which includes as a minimum parts P601 & P602. Flamefast employ their own service and in-house engineers who have all the required qualifications to carry out this type of work.

Within Flamefast, respective staff also hold other qualifications relevant to their roles, these include NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health), IOSH, City & Guilds, CSA (Association of HVAC Building Services Commissioning engineers). As well as the construction industry standard of CSCS, PASMA, IPAF.
