Term 4, Week 2 26th October 2018

Dear Parents/Caregivers, I can’t believe it is Term 4 ! Time flies when you are busy learning and having fun. Standards… I have this quote up in my office and in my home. I think about the meaning every day and act upon it when needed. At our school, the Behaviour Consistency Guide and our Aussie 5’s provide us with the standard we accept. I am proud to have staff, students and the parent community know our standards and expectations and act accordingly.

The term calendar is being sent home. We are blessed to have all of our staff going above and beyond, organising a variety of activities and experiences to ensure our students have access to the best learning

opportunities available. 50 years on….. Amazing is a word that comes to mind when I think back to Friday 19th October. Our 50th Anniversary Fete was certainly one to remember. It was a wonderful assembly followed by stalls run by our classes, the P&C and the community. A huge thank you to the Fete Committee who worked tirelessly in their organisation and to everyone who played their part. Congratulations….. Congratulations to our beautiful Miss Tamsett who was married earlier this week. After a short break, Miss Tamsett will be returning as Mrs Blackman. Congratulations to you both!

Grandparents Day 140 grandparents attended this year’s Grandparents day coming from as far a field as Queensland and Taree to take part. Grandparents enjoyed a special assembly, followed by an afternoon tea held atThou Walla (thank you to the P&C for supplying) and then a visit to classrooms. $64.40 was raised by selling children’s artwork to go towards a shade sail over the Ausplay.

K-1E have had an amazing year of fun

activities!

We had a wonderful time at the school fete. K-1E ran a Coin Drop stall. Participants had to toss a coin into the pond and land in a circle to win a prize. There were lots of lucky winners! A big thank you to Mia, Seth, Clarinda and Ellah for helping to run our stall. You were amazing! It was a wonderful community event!

We had a wonderful time during our book week parade! There were lots of wonder-ful costumes on display!

Last term, we celebrated all of our class friends birthdays over the year with a class party. We played games and decorated our own cupcakes. It was a wonderful afternoon!

Class 1/2 I

We have been exploring some technology at the start of this term and having lots of fun engaging in all that the technology has to offer. A favourite of ours is Quiver which is an app on iPads that turns images on paper into 3D and allows you to interact with it in a variety of ways. We are excited for everything else Term 4 has in store for us!

Welcome to Term 4

Reporting verses Tattling

Do you know the difference?

Reporting is when an action is done on purpose to hurt

someone or something.

It is to keep everyone and property safe.

Tattling is telling when something is done accidently.

It is trying to get someone into trouble.

We all need to stop and think before we report something.

Library News –Weeks 1-2 Term 4 2018

What’s Hot in Irri’s Library Welcome back to an exciting Term 4. We are nearly through another exciting year. Irri’s Library has so much to offer this Term. We have new technology arriving and being set up as we speak, a new Story Garden evolving, a new way of searching our collection through the use of genre labels and as always, exciting programs for both Infants and

Primary. As students were allowed to borrow through the holidays last Term, please remember to locate ALL library books and return so as to limit all overdue loans. Looking forward to

some wonderful learning this term.

Changes to Borrowing Classes will now have a class tub of books borrowed out to the teacher each week for class group work and

students will be allowed to borrow up to 2 books for home ONLY if they have a library bag . PLEASE ENCOURAGE YOUR CHILDREN TO BORROW FOR HOME!

If you are interested in a cheap read come to Irri’s Library during lunch and buy a

pre-loved book for only 50c. There are a range of titles and genres available. Have a browse and find a new gem. All money raised goes towards new furnishings and

technologies.

Have you found your rock in our Story Garden?

Last week we created our very own Story garden in the garden out the front of Irri’s Library. In the garden, you should find your own painted

story rock inspired by Justin Ridgeway’s discussion during our Book Week celebrations. If you

haven’t made one, please come to the library so Mrs Lynch can help you create

one.

THANK YOU A big thank you is to be extended to CAMPVALE Landscape

Garden Supplies who donated all of the materials for the Story Garden. We are very grateful!
