Contact No: 9858004599, 9419546177, 9419032652 RE 003 London, Aug 1: Three mem- bers of slain al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden's family, including his stepmother and sister, were reportedly among four people killed when a pri- vate jet crashed in southern England while landing. The Phenom 300 jet which was arriving from Italy crashed during an attempt to land at Blackbushe Airport in Hampshire, some 65 kilo- metres from here, killing all four persons on board includ- ing the pilot yesterday though it was not clear how many of them were Osama's relatives. The Saudi Arabia-regis- tered plane had ploughed into a car auction site and burst into flames. A family friend told a news channel that the dead included Osama bin Lad- en's stepmother Rajaa Hashim, his sister Sana bin Laden and her husband Zuhair Hashim. The dead also included a Jordanian pilot.Their names have been widely reported on multiple Arabic media web- sites but are not yet confirmed by police or family members. Saudi ambassador Prince Mohammed bin Nawaf Al Saud offered condolences on the embassy's official Twitter handle to the bin Laden family, a prominent Saudi clan with vast business interests but did not identify the victims. "His royal highness Prince Mohammed bin Nawaf bin Abdul Aziz, the ambassador of the Custo- dian of the Two Holy Mosques to the United Kingdom, offered his condolences to the sons of the late Mohammed bin Laden and their relations for the grave incident of the crash of the plane carrying members of the family at Black- bushe airport," he tweeted. The embassy said it would work with British authorities to probe the incident and repatri- ate the bodies for burial in Saudi Arabia. The aircraft, which was understood to be flying from Milan-Malpensa Airport in Italy, came down after over- shooting the runway and clip- ping a fence. The Embraer jet then flipped over and landed on a number of cars in an adjacent auction site, sparking a huge blaze. Around 20 cars were completely destroyed. An eyewitness to yester- day's crash said the jet explod- ed on impact at the British Car Auctions site, that operates an auction site and warehouse at the Hampshire airfield. The plane was owned by Salem Aviation, a company which is part of the bin Laden conglomerate based in Jeddah. Air accidents have befallen the family in the past. Osama's father, Mohammed bin Laden was killed in a plane crash in 1967 near Usran in Saudi Arabia. Mohammed's eldest son, Salem, died when an ultralight aircraft he was piloting hit power lines in the US in 1988. PTI Islamabad, Aug 1: Pakistan has become the associate member of the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN), making it the first non-European country to achieve the status. London, Aug 1: Three mem-bers of slain al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden's family, including his stepmother and sister, were reportedly among four people killed when a pri-vate jet crashed in southern England while landing.

The Phenom 300 jet which was arriving from Italy crashed during an attempt to land at Blackbushe Airport in Hampshire, some 65 kilo-metres from here, killing all four persons on board includ-ing the pilot yesterday though it was not clear how many of them were Osama's relatives.

The Saudi Arabia-regis-tered plane had ploughed into a car auction site and burst into flames. A family friend told a news channel that the dead included Osama bin Lad-en's stepmother Rajaa Hashim, his sister Sana bin Laden and her husband Zuhair Hashim.

The dead also included a Jordanian pilot.Their names have been widely reported on multiple Arabic media web-sites but are not yet confirmed by police or family members.

Saudi ambassador Prince Mohammed bin Nawaf Al Saud offered condolences on

the embassy's official Twitter handle to the bin Laden family, a prominent Saudi clan with vast business interests but did not identify the victims.

"His royal highness Prince Mohammed bin Nawaf bin Abdul Aziz, the ambassador of the Custo-dian of the Two Holy Mosques to the United Kingdom, offered his condolences to the sons of the late Mohammed bin Laden and their relations for the grave incident of the crash of the plane carrying members of the family at Black-bushe airport," he tweeted.

The embassy said it would work with British authorities to probe the incident and repatri-ate the bodies for burial in Saudi Arabia. The aircraft, which was understood to be flying from Milan-Malpensa Airport in Italy, came down after over-shooting the runway and clip-

ping a fence. The Embraer jet then flipped over and landed on a number of cars in an adjacent auction site, sparking a huge blaze. Around 20 cars were completely destroyed.

An eyewitness to yester-day's crash said the jet explod-ed on impact at the British Car Auctions site, that operates an auction site and warehouse at the Hampshire airfield.

PTI

Islamabad, Aug 1: Pakistan has become the associate member of the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN), making it the fi rst non-European country to achieve the status.

Foreign Office (FO) said the Associate Membership is a recognition of Pakistan's impressive credentials in the fi eld of science and technol-ogy in general and the peace-ful uses of nuclear energy in particular.

Pakistan has already made significant contributions to CERN's fl agship experimen-tal project, the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the FO said in an overnight statement, also announcing that the status was awarded yesterday.

"This makes Pakistan the fi rst non-European country to achieve this status, which is a tribute to the dedicated sci-entists, technicians and engi-neers of Pakistan as well as its diplomats who have made this possible," FO said.

As an Associate Member, Pakistan looks forward to benefitting from, and con-tributing more intensively to, the increasingly innova-tive and challenging scien-tific initiatives undertaken at CERN, it said.
