Intersils ISL78600 and ISL78601 automotive grade Li-Ionbattery management and safety monitoring chipset solution isspecifically designed to meet the stringent safety, reliability andperformance requirements of next generation Hybrid ElectricVehicle (HEV), Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) andElectric Vehicle (EV) applications.

The automotive grade (AEC-Q100), ISL78600 12-cell batterypack manager can be used as a standalone part or deployedin conjunction with the complementary ISL78601 12-cellLi-Ion battery pack monitor to implement an ISO26262 (ASIL)

compliant system. The solution provides built-in fault detectionfor all of its major internal functions and detects externalfaults such as open wire, over and under voltage as well astemperature and cell balancing faults to mitigate battery packfailures.

Overall the highly integrated functionality of the ISL78600 andISL78601 offers a number of benefits and can significantlyreduce the overall battery management costs of HEV/PHEV/EVbattery packs and their associated systems.
