ni-msme family welcomes

Shri M. Chandrasekhar Reddyon his assumption as Director General (ni-msme)

We wish him all the best.

Physicists say form and function are inter-related, and cite the

example of pyramids. They declare that its pyramidal form

(and also its direction and structural proportions) prevents the

decay of the organic matter in its middle chamber. Organisational

experts too insist that organisational structure and functional

efficiency are similarly inter-related. In any case,

the School of Entrepreneurship Extension (SEE)of ni-msme appears to uphold this belief.

The month of April

has been buzzing with

activity for SEE.

Especially under the PI

scheme, a number of

programmes have

reached the last leg.

The Training of

Trainers in Entrepre-

neurship Development,

which was conducted

at the premises of Sri

Indu P.G. College, in association with

Priyadarshini Voluntary Organisation, was

formally concluded on 4th April. Prof. P.

Udaya Shanker, Director General I/c of

ni-msme and S. Glory Swarupa, AFM, SEE

had attended the event.

Prof. Udaya Shanker, addressing the

assemblage, had appreciated the participants

who had already started up their business

activities for utilising the training programme

fruitfully. He advised the others also to

follow in the same spirit and move towards

success. He had assured them of technical

support and guidance from ni-msme for

aspiring entrepreneurs.

Earlier, Mrs. G. Subba

Lakshmi had wel-

comed the dignitaries

and the participants.

This was followed by

the sharing of

participants’ views.

The participants

had expressed full

satisfaction on the

input coverage of the

programme. They

had acknowledged that they had learnt many

new training skills. The programme was so

motivating that some of them have become

entrepreneurs while still the training was

underway, by starting tiny activities like beauty

parlour, dairy parlour, readymade garments

shop, mobile phone repair and maintenance

shop, stationery shop.

Ms. Glory Swarupa had praised the participants

on their proactive attitude. She had advised them

to use the training inputs for conducting good

programmes and for motivating the participants

to apply these skills even in their business andachieve their goals.

A small first step

M. Chandrasekhar Reddy

As I address you through this column for the first time, I am overtaken by a multitude

of feelings. We are not mutual strangers really. The only difference now is the

changed configuration of our relationship. While this difference may seem enormous,

in my perception, as a leader of our team, it only means more challenges and

responsibilities – for me. But for this, I see no change in our long cherished informal

and comfortable mutual association. I am sure that the opportunities and challenges

of the organization can be accomplished with determination.

Apart from my present office, for nearly ten years now I have been a member of ni-msme family. The

aims and objectives of the Institute, its achievements and endeavours are quite familiar to me. I have

had the good fortune to belong to its dynamic culture and actively contribute to realising its goals. Once

again, I am glad to join the team of my past colleagues, whom I hope would interact with me with the

same verve and enthusiasm as in the earlier times. I do hope that all of you, the stake-holders of the

Institute, will continue to extend unstinted cooperation and support as you have extended during the

tenure of my predecessors.

For me, I hear only the call of tempting challenges of taking the Institute to new heights and of crossing

newer horizons. For instance, introducing long-term programmes on themes that have a bearing on enhancing

the competitiveness of the MSMEs; effective implementation of partner institutions scheme /apex

programmes, strengthening the existing academic centres of the Institute, including the NRCD, IPFC and

RCTP, exploring the possibilities for initiating innovative programmes/consultancy through international

agencies; designing activities for strengthening the industry associations; developing service providers

and deploying them to the needy MSMEs; innovate new financial solutions for MSMEs in collaboration

with financial intermediaries for augmenting their financial resources; strengthening of faculty and many

more such ideas are beckoning me to act. Even more important is the task of evolving workable plans to

put the available land to effective use by launching purposeful activities. If I can manage to make a small

beginning in meeting some of the challenges, if not all; and if I can succeed in getting things to move,

with perceptible momentum, I would feel my purpose of assuming this office has been fulfilled.

However, as we all know, neither individuals nor organisations can achieve their goals all by themselves.

The positive support of a number of external agents and favourable environmental factors often decide

the results of ambitious initiatives. The several milestones that the Institute has so far achieved have

been possible only through your whole-hearted and enthusiastic cooperation, and by your sense of solidarity.

When I say ‘You’, I mean all of you – my faculty colleagues, staff and employees, of ni-msme, the

partner institutions, and the range of clients both national and international. In the same way, I look

forward to the delightful experience of achieving new milestones with your active support & cooperation

and able guidance of the Ministry of MSME Govt. of India.

Before closing this editorial note, I wish to share with you the persisting sense of wonder I have been

experiencing: the pleasant and fortuitous coincidence that has put me here just when ni-msme is on the

threshold of celebrating its Golden Jubilee appears to me as nothing short of a miracle and indebted to

the Ministry of MSME Government of India. I consider myself truly privileged to take over the mantle

of this institute in this momentous occasion. Rightly so, let us commence our first journey in pursuit of

our vision to reach new heights with the Golden Jubilee celebration of our esteemed Institute. May our

journey together meet with many more such happy coincidences marked by success and achievement that

enhance our contribution to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
