THE SENTINEL-LEADER Wednesday, Nov. 27, 1963 Sparta Home Econ Students Study Red Cross Course The girls in the third year home economics classes of Sparta High School have been spending the last few weeks studying the American Red Cross Mother and Infant Care course under the supervision of a registered nurse, Mrs. Fula Todle- ben assisted by the home economics teachers, Mrs. Thomas Dalgleish and Miss Margaret Lapham. Included in the course are prenatal care; birth of the baby; infant care; and the physical, emotional, mental, and social development of the child. The Red Cross office furnished many charts, two life size baby dolls, layettes, and bath equipment for use in demonstration and laboratory practice. One day the girls had little guests. A group of small children ranging in age from 3 months to 4 years came to be observed. Upon completion of the course and a written examination the girls re- ceived the American National Red Cross certificates signifying that they had successfully completed the course. Peach Ridge Library Reopens

The Peach Ridge branch of the Kent County L i b r a r y , which was c losed because of the lack of o p e r a -ting funds last August 3, has reopened thanks to $400 ap-p r o p r i a t e d by the Alpine Township Board for that pu rpose .

Although the Peach Ridge branch had been closed by the county, the books t he r e had not been r emoved . Its c losing had c rea t ed cons ide rab le con t rove r sy among, the r e s i d e n t s of the a r ea who wanted it to r e m a i n open.
