Irving, Catherine Best (nee Scrymgeour)

1899, Glasgow Arrived Albany 1928 and married George Irving. Went to Moorine Rock on virgin block, which they developed to a very high standard. Had 1 son.

Isbister, Henrietta Lindsay Arrived Williams 1902, living at “Glenorchy”.

Ivey, Doris Anne 1910, Perth Married 1930 and went to Bodallin. Had 4 children. Suffered the many hardships of pioneering days.

Arrived in Victoria from India 1927. Settled at Lake Carmody, W.A., 1929 with sister and family. Married 1930 to a farmer and lived on farm 9 miles from Bodallin. Taught correspondence for 6 years, raised family of 4 children.

Married there 6 April 1901. 1910 they came to W.A. with their daughter, journeyed to Scott’s Brook to take up land where they lived for 30 years. Retired to Albany. Husband died there. Returned to Upper Blackwood where she spent rest of her life.

Jeffery, Ann Louisa Wife of telegraphist, Eucla, approx. 1900. 1st child died of convulsions 1905. 2nd child born Ballarat and brought overland by stagecoach across Nullarbor to Eucla when 6 months old. Mrs Jeffery would sit up with campfire to keep dingoes away at night when camping overnight.

Married Henry Kippin, an Englishman, 1902. 1904 came to W.A. settled in Woodanilling. 1967 Mrs Kippin still lived there and celebrated her 89th birthday. 1912-15 they moved to Nyabing where Mrs Kippin rendered valuable community service. Her Christian faith helped her through a hard life.

Lockyer, Kezia With husband Paul and 7 children, left England in ‘Hooghley’ August. 1829, arriving February 1830. 1832 rented house in Perth. Husband and son helped to build ‘Old Mill’. After suffering many hardships finally returned to England after a son-in-law had shot Mr Johnstone in a duel, leaving family behind.
