We came to Fort Wayne in mid- 1999, opening our doors in April of 2000, becoming LSC’s 9th branch. What started in Indianapolis in 1949, has grown to 11 branches in Indiana and 1 in Ohio. Over the years, the business philosophy of founder Herb Lee has remained the same: “Respect our customers, employees and suppliers. Always conduct business fairly and honestly, offer quality products and services at a fair and competitive price”. LSC offers more than just products, our level of commitment to providing outstanding service has grown with each employee. Many years of experience contributes to the knowing and understanding of our customer’s needs, allowing us to not just serve, but partner with them. With the level of inventory in 12 stores, our sales counters, inside sales teams, showrooms and business to business, make it very accessible for customers to get their needs met. Training is also very important not only to Lee Supply and our employees, but also to our customers. We offer many various tutorials on our web site along with vendor training in the branch of an evening, or during the day at the counter. We at Lee Supply Corp. invite all to

Happy New Year! The Fort Wayne Home Builders Association is an organization of strength through its membership and it is my honor to be serving as your 2017 HBA President. Our gratitude to Jeff Thomas for his excellent leadership this past year in representing our organization both at the local and state level, engaging in difficult conversations and excelling in recruitment. Thank you to the Board of Directors and our State & Life Directors for your dedication and service to the HBA in
supporting all the community events, legislative efforts and industry related endeavors we pursuit. My commitment to this organization as president is creating a framework for Business Action. Energy & Energize – A strong bias for action and personal energy among our board and members to be involved only to further strengthen our organization and efforts for our industry. Edge & Execution – Display a powerful competitive spirit and a will to consistently get results. Speed & Simplicity – We will commit to act quickly and seize opportunities for each of our members and keep things simple with clarity, brevity and conciseness goals. Most of all we will work with self-confidence to instill in our members the highest degree of self confidence in this organization to allow for expression and growth. Again, I look forward to serving you in 2017 please feel free to contact me at any time. Respectfully, Jessica Scheurich, HBA President

Well, the year is drawing to a close quickly and I am working to wrap things up in 2016 and prepare for 2017. We wish Office Manager Joanne Chandler a happy retirement as her last day is December 30th. You will see new faces at the front counter as Joanne’s retirement has shuffled our staff around a bit. I have added another permit specialist to help accommodate the volume of online permitting. Expect improvements in the time it takes for an online permit to be processed once
the new staff members are fully trained.
You should see mailings and e-mail going out to all license holders in the next week. These mailings contain information about license renewals and updating the list of persons allowed to pick up permits. I have extended the expiration date of current licenses to April 1, 2017 to allow ample time for compliance. As I stated previously, license holders will need to appear in person after January 1, 2017 with a valid government issued ID in order to maintain the ability to pull permits. Once the license holder has been verified, we will update our files. I encourage the license holder to bring their list of persons allowed to pick up permits at that time also.
I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and prosperous 2017.
Sincerely,
John Caywood, Building Commissioner

The home building market is improving and the HBA Builders who have participated in the Town & Country New Home
& Specialty Retail Tour have experienced great traffic during this spring event. Some builders reporting up to 300 people
through their home on one weekend day!! Now HBA Associate members can position themselves in individual Town &
Country homes and present your product to attendees at a very minimal cost. What a great way to capitalize on a
captive audience and being able to talk to hundreds of potential prospects for your product and services.

December 13, 2016 HBA Office – 7:30am
Present: Barclay Allen, Greg Gerbers, Greg Roberts, Jeff Bushey, Jeff Thomas, Jessica Scheurich, Josh Barkley, Kevan Biggs, Matt Momper, Orrin Sessions, Ryan Schiltz, Tyler Kees, Tom Niezer, Austin Lundquist, Rod Robrock, Ric Zehr, Matt Lancia & Maurine Holle. Guest: Dave Watercutter Absent: Craig Yoder, Jay Shipley, Rob Wacker, Charlie Giese, Scott Barnett, Brad Lombard The Meeting was called to order at 7:42 AM at the HBA Office by President Jeff Thomas. Secretary’s Report: A motion to approve all meeting minutes was submitted by Jessica Scheurich with the noted change of Matt Lancia being in attendance last month was seconded by Greg Roberts. All the board was in favor. Treasurer’s Report There was a motion by Orrin Sessions to approve the report, with a second by Barclay Allen. All the board was in favor. Dave Watercutter, Watercutter financial attended the meeting to update the board on our investment account. New Member Report: No new members to report at this time. The board reviewed members who are up for renewing encouraging board members to contact. IBA Membership Drive: State is only up 12 members. They will continue to offer incentive. We should continue to focus on gaining new members here locally. Face Reading Seminar: There is presently no interest from any other local associations to partner with us in bringing Mac Fulfer to Fort Wayne. The cost is $4,000.00 plus travel expenses. We will table this until a time where we can partner with someone to bring him to town. Slab Insulation Analysis: Matt Momper had 3 local builders submit ranch plans to him which he submitted for analysis with the basis being a slab insulation of R-10 on the inside or outside of the slab. The results came back with a projected average energy savings of $129-$159 for these homes. Presently a builder can submit a plan to an engineer who will sign off on the home that it is structurally sound and does not need further insulation. This code will go before the Fire Prevention and Building Safety Commission next month for a draft non-rule policy to be voted on. Home Show App: 2 proposals have been submitted to the app committee. The board voted on moving forward with the app. The committee will review and meet with Monroe as soon as possible to further review their proposal and cost. Other Business: Orrin Sessions reports that the Developer’s Quarterly Meeting will soon come to an end should the attendance continue to be so scarce. Presently Orrin and one other developer attend these meetings. The board is encouraged to go, and to help keep these meetings going. Meeting was adjourned at 9:34 AM by Jeff Thomas.
Next Meeting: January 10th at 7:30 AM at the HBA Office. Respectfully submitted, Tyler Kees, Secretary
