Improvisation
Wade FitzGerald, a graduate of the University of Florida School of Music, is one of the newest inductees into The Guild of Carillonneurs
in North America. He studied the carillon at the University of Florida with Dr. Laura Ellis for 3 ½ years, during which time he was awarded the Webb Carillon Scholarship two years in a row and completed a senior thesis on Johan Franco’s nocturnes for carillon. Outside of school, he worked as a pianist for St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Gainesville as well as an accompanist for the Gainesville Youth Chorus.
Originally from Tampa, Florida, FitzGerald began studying piano at age 5, and was playing in church services by age 9. FitzGerald decided to continue studying piano at the University of Florida, where he earned a full scholarship. He graduated with honors in fall 2019 with a Bachelor of Music and a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Outside of his studies, FitzGerald is enjoys spending time in nature. He is an Eagle Scout, an avid hiker, and an amateur nature photographer.
