The Family Child Care program is a managed network of child care professionals, certified to provide child care in on-post government quarters and in their off-post homes, for children ages four weeks to 12 years. FCC homes offer a variety of care options to meet the military parent. Full day care, part day care, hourly care, extended care and long term care are all available. A 20% discount is available for families with deployed soldiers.

Child Development Homes

Offers the best of both the FCC home environ-ment, while being staffed by Child and Youth

Program Assistants, as in the Child Development Center. They are specifically designed to offer in-fant care, respite care, hourly care, extended hours care, emergency care and transition care with spe-cial needs and services. The homes are open from 5:30 am - 6 pm, during normal hours of operation, but may be open 24-hours a day to accommodate shift work, emergency care situations and other duty requirements of military families.

Mildly Ill Childcare Home

Offers an opportunity for ill children to receive child care when they are unable to attend their regular CYSS program. Ill children are accepted by appointment and space availability, once the par-ent has received approval from the Family Child Care director and obtained documentation from their physician, stating their diagnosis and written instructions on how to care for the child.

The School of Knowledge, Inspi-ration, Exploration and Skills or SKIESUnlimited offers a variety of educational and enrichment op-portunities for youth, from toddlers to teens. Classes are added in response to customer input and include gymnastics, swimming, Taekwondo, fashion design and modeling, academic tutoring, first tee golf, dance and more.

The SAS program offers before and/or after school care for youth, 5 - 12 years old (must be in kindergarten). Full day programs are offered during school holidays. ACS Information, Referral & Outreach (IR&O) links Soldiers and Families with available information on an array of on-post or off-post agencies and services. IR&O maintains databases with over 2,000 military and civilian human services agency resources at their fingertips to help you find what you are looking for. The 254-287-4ACS Help Line is available during regular business hours. If you do not know who to call or what to do, call 254-287-4ACS to find out. Their knowledgeable staff can help point you in the right direction.

IR&O is the central point of distribution for information, flyers, brochures, ACS calendar & Fort Hood upcoming events and activities.

Provides guidance, resources and training for Family Readiness Group members and Rear Detachment Officers. Supports deploying units by providing pre-deployment information and material to Soldiers and Family members. Provides assistance and services to repatriated Families.

The SOS is designed to provide support services to survivors of Soldiers who have fallen in combat as well as support to the survivors of all Soldiers who have passed while on duty. If you have an issue with the Army, AFAP is the venue that will allow you to voice your concerns to leadership. This annual event consists of both an adult and teen conference. Active Duty, retired, DoD Civilians, dependents and dependent teens, aged 13 - 19, meet in separate forums to brainstorm issues that are affecting the Fort Hood community. These issues are presented to the Chain of Command and delegated to various organizations for resolution. Issues can be submitted year round at a variety of locations throughout the installation.

The center offers a variety of resources to accommodate Soldiers and Families for meetings and communication during a deployment. It has seven meeting rooms, a computer room that has seven computer stations, a Family room, kitchen area, and a Short Term Alternate Child Care (STACC) site. The center help ease the burden of having to find a meeting space and child care.

Sexual Assault Prevention and Response ProgramBldg 284, Battalion Avenue & 37th Street254-288-4931Reinforces the Army’s commitment to eliminate incidents of sexual assault through a comprehensive program that centers on awareness and prevention, training and education, victim advocacy, response, reporting and follow-up. A 24-hour Victim Services Hotline, 254-702-4953, is available for victim support and for reporting sexual assault incidents. The report may be restricted or unrestricted, based upon the victim-selected option.

The SFAC is a one-stop location with a team of professionals that provide tailored services that are responsive to the needs of wounded, ill, and injured Soldiers assigned to the Warrior Transition Brigade and their Families. Fort Hood Hunting & Fishing Day (Sep) Outdoorsmen from around the community join togeth-er each year during Fort Hood’s Hunting and Fishing Day, at the Sportsmen’s Center. Sportsmen gather for a day full of outdoor sports, including; fishing derbies, trap and skeet competitions, turkey shoots, archery shoots and more. This event is a great opportunity for the non-hunter to link up with an experienced outdoorsman. Fees may apply.

Hood Howdy (Feb & Aug)A big Fort Hood welcome is extended twice a year to new arrivals. Held in February and August, this info fair provides information about the local area, including: schools, businesses, on and off post agencies, housing and FMWR facilities. A great opportunity to discover the greater Fort Hood community, by providing a wealth of information about your new hometown. Entertain-ment, food and door prizes add fun to the welcome. Entry free.

Flashlight Egg Hunt (Apr)Thousands of eggs and goodies are hidden and children ages two to 12 are invited to bring their baskets, flashlights and a parent to hunt for eggs in the dark at Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area. Pictures with the Easter Bunny, concessions and other children’s activities make the eve-ning egg-citing. Gate fee applies.

Month Of The Military Child Festival (Apr) Month of the military child is held the first Saturday in April to recognize our nation’s most patriotic and brave citizens, the children of military members. A fest is held to thank them for their sacrifice and show appreciation for their role in the military Family. Food, entertainment and great door prizes make this fest the place to be for Fort Hood youth. Entry free.

Water Fest (Jun)Welcome the summer at Belton Lake Outdoor Recre-ation Area with free paddleboat rides, Kids’ Auto Wash, waterslide rides, pony rides, petting zoo, climbing wall, professional fish demonstrations, jet ski races, a guarded swimming area, with a beautiful sandy beach and much more. Bring a picnic lunch or enjoy concessions. Cool off with lots of fun activities for the whole Family, the first weekend of June. Gate fee applies.

Freedom Fest (Jul)There’s no better place to celebrate our nation’s birth than Fort Hood. The evening sky of July 4th transforms with the largest 30-minute fireworks display in central Texas. Enjoy a whole day filled with carnival rides, con-cessions, games, military displays and other Family ac-tivities. Entry free.

Nature In Lights (Nov - Jan)Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area transforms into a winter wonderland for kids and kids at heart each year. Visitors drive through the 800-acre park and enjoy five and a half miles of computer driven, illuminated displays, architectural and foliage lighting. Guests can shop for gifts, take photographs with Santa and enjoy homemade cookies, hot chocolate and other treats at Santa’s Village, located in the park at Live Oak Pavilion. Nature In Lights runs nightly, mid-November through early January. Gate fee applies.

U.S. Army Soldier Show (Jul) Some of the most talented active duty Soldiers through-out the Army are selected through auditions to perform in a high energy, 90-minute, live musical review. Soldiers with a passion for music, dance and performing, show-case their talents in performances across the globe. The tour stops at Fort Hood late summer. Oktoberfest (Oct)All ages are invited to come out and celebrate the end of summer and the beginning of the fall season, with live entertainment, arts and crafts vendors, dancing, German style food and activities for the kids, including face paintings, inflatables, all under one big tent. Cer-emony begins with keg tapping followed throughout the evening with a Strongman Competition. Food and drinks are sold for a nominal fee. Entry free.

Williamson County (Dec) and Temple Symphony (Jan) OrchestraThe Williamson County and Temple Symphony Orches-tras perform free for the Fort Hood community an-nually. These world-class musicians fill the stage with beautiful music in a performance that is well-loved by all ages. Free entry.
