Re-designed planning assistant for more intuitive top-down and bottom-up planning

The next-generation of the Jedox Planning Assistant (aka Splashing Wizard) brings more intuitive top-down planning

functionality to Jedox and speeds-up the strategic planning process for business leaders. In addition to the capabilities

of the Splashing Wizard, the Planning Assistant also adds support for the modes “Transfer“ and “Hold“.

New “Undo” in Jedox Web

The new “Undo” in Jedox Web immediately takes you back to the previous version without any data loss. This

not only applies to your work in the Report Designer, but also during data entry in the database (after data entry &

splashing etc.)

1. New Planning Features & Even Better Planning Experience Business leaders and planners in all departments enjoy new planning features


New “Hold” Functionality & Hold Manager

Planners in all departments can now collaborate and work simultaneously on the same data using the new “Hold”

feature and Hold Manager. When a hold is defi ned, the value in the cell is fi xed, and will not be aff ected by write-

back operations occurring above the cell. Holds are persisted in the server across sessions. This new feature allows

each user to plan and close on their numbers while everyone else keeps working on the same data model.

diff erent aggregation levels (strategic as well as

operational planning) for an integrated enterprise

More Speed and Ease in the Jedox Modeling Tool

Attribute Domain

A key new feature are attribute domains which help

you better control data entry by specifying the type of

numbers / dates etc. that you would expect from the

user. This is key for improving your data quality. Defi ne

a framework for planners in your organization to work

in and benefi t from better data quality.

2. Enhanced Data-Modeling ExperienceApplication designers build their own Models with more comfort and easeThe powerful Jedox modeling tool now off ers comfortable features for application designers to create complex

data models with more speed and ease. Drag & drop, copy-paste, syntax highlighting, and auto-complete simplify

modeling. New attribute domains make it easy to set and control data entries with pre-defi ned types of values and

data ranges.


Performance Upgrade across the platform

The performance both in Jedox Excel and Jedox Web has been increased. Your application is faster and runs smoother than ever. New Data-Driven Engine (DDE) supported features have been implemented for several arithmetic functions, which further reduce the calculation time.

Copy & Paste Bulk Operations

With Jedox 7.1, you can now copy multiple values and

paste them in one single operation to reduce manual

work. Furthermore, copy and paste in the Modeler

has been extended to also support attribute values.

Drag and drop of elements in Modeler

Dimension elements can now be modifi ed using drag

and drop in the elements list in Modeler. Drag and drop

can be used to reorder the elements, to move elements

into a diff erent place in the dimension hierarchy, or to

add elements in additional hierarchies.

Rule editor (Syntax Highlighting, auto-complete)

As of 7.1, Syntax highlighting is available in the advanced

rule editor. Another comfortable new feature is the

autocomplete, which you can activate by using the

<CTRL>+<SPACE> key combination.


More new features for application designers:

OLAP: Upload and Download of databases

Databases can now be uploaded to and downloaded

from the OLAP Server while it is running. The interface

for this feature is added in the Jedox Web Modeler:

You can now download a zip-archive of a database

from the Modeler, via the context menu of the database

node. You can add a password to the zip, and optionally

include archived fi les, and the System database. Also,

you can upload zip-archives with databases without

the need to restart Jedox OLAP Server.

Search-as-you-type in the Parent Element combo box in Modeler

The combo box for selecting an elements parent now supports search, and will show results live during the text

input.

Paste View in Excel Add-in & Web

Ad-hoc analytics and reporting is even faster now

and you can share your ad-hoc views quickly. When

creating a “Paste View“ you can now hide dimensions

which is very handy for cubes with a large number of

dimensions. You can also pick from default elements

which makes it quick to create the report. Once, you

have created your report you can store it directly in the

database and shore it with other, instead of sending

files.

A new chart has been added to the

SUCCESS Charts, the Vertical Waterfall

chart. In addition to the features

of the Horizontal Waterfall chart, it

off ers additional confi guration options,

such as the ability to denote certain

bars in the chart as subtotals.

A vertical waterfall chart can eff ectively

visualize fi nancial results and the

quantitative impact of diff erent drivers.

For example, revenues can be shown as

bars that shift upwards and expense as

bars that shift downward.

4. More Pre-Defi ned Data Sources and Data PreparationNew data sources and self-service data preparation in Jedox IntegratorJedox 7.1 boosts many new capabilities to speed up and simplify data integration and data preparation. Execution

runtime information, automated documentation of integration jobs, and many other helpful features have been

introduced to make seamless integration and self-service data preparation a reality in Jedox:

Data extraction from Qlik Sense™ Enterprise for planning in Jedox

Starting with the data integration. In Jedox 7.1 we have

added a number of new out-of-the box data sources.

Including the new Qlik extract, which allows you to

access data in your Qlik Enterprise system directly. No

more doubling in data entry or disparate data between

the two systems.

Go full circle from planning to analytics to reporting

with the upgraded Jedox Connector for Qlik Sense™.

Jedox and Qlik have intensified their partnership and

are now offering Qlik Sense as a data source in Jedox

for budgeting, planning, and forecasting. Once you

have finalized your budgets and plans, simply bring

back your plans to Qlik Sense™ to analyze actuals and

performance against targets. The extraction of data

from Qlik Sense Server is possible in Integrator 7.1

Office 365 / OneDrive

The second big news in the direct integration to office

365. Using the Office 365 API Jedox now connects to

OneDrive. Select One-drive as a data source or file

location comfortably from the Jedox Integrator menu.

REST connection enhancements

In REST connection new options for OAuth2 with

password credentials and for Timeout are available.

The test of a REST connection displays now the

HTTP response in case of a successful test (also for

connection type SOAP).

Our REST Plus interface now supports more web

services and let‘s you test and preview to simplify

building of extracts.

Hadoop Integration as part of Setup

With Jedox 7.1, the Hadoop connector is included in

the standard Jedox Setup. It supports the version HDP

2.5 of the Hortonworks Data Platform. The connection

type „HDFS“ for CSV-files has been replaced with a

location „WebHDFS“. This also supports XML, JSON

and XLSX files.

Locations in file based connections

In connection types File(CSV), XML, JSON and Excel,

additional locations for file storage are available:

⊲ The former location URL is split in 7.1 on protocols to HTTP, FTP, and WebDAV.

⊲ Location FTP supports now FTP in active mode and loading to a FTP Server.

⊲ Location OneDrive allows Read- and Write-access to the file-hosting service One Drive operated by Microsoft.

⊲ Location WebHDFS supports Read- and Write access to the Hadoop Distributed File System.

Data Preparation

Jedox 7.1 off ers many new features especially for this step to make it faster and more comfortable to work with

Jedox integrator. For example, there is more guidance now for the ETL process with linked components and the

user is take through step by step. In 7.1. you can track variable to see all the places where it is used.

We have also added a detailed view called Job execution run time to see which component in your ETL takes how

much time. And there is auto-documentation for each integrator job. Lots of new features with the aim to make ETL

modeling faster, more intuitive and simpler:

Linked Components

It is now possible to create new components which directly link to an existing componen, e.g. you can create a new

“FieldTransform“ directly from an existing extract; the transform will automatically use the extract as a data source.

⊲ For example, there is more guidance during the ETL process with linked components and the user is taken through it step by step.

Job Execution runtime details

Integrator can show runtime details for the execution of jobs, allowing to inspect for example the exact

timing of each component that was processed during a job‘s execution. The details can be seen from

the job execution monitor.

Automated Project documentation

A documentation for an Integrator project will be generated as a PDF or a RTF fi le automatically.

Fill variables from Settings Manager and from Scripts

Project variables can now fetch the default value from a key in Settings Manager. Settings from type ‚password“

can be used as variables for encrypted input fi elds. The variable default value can also be defi ned with a Groovy

Script.

Hide your Integrator project for users, so
