ADMISSIONS ANNOUNCEMENT 2011-12 O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) and Jindal Global Law School (JGLS) O.P. Jindal Global University is a non-profit university established by the Haryana Private Universities (Second Amendment) Act, 2009 at Sonipat, Haryana (NCR of Delhi). JGU and JGLS are recognised by the Bar Council of India (BCI). The University Grants Commission (UGC) has accorded its recognition to JGU. Jindal Global Law School (JGLS), India’s first global law school is situated on a 60-acre state of the art residential JGU campus. The vision of JGU is to promote global courses, global programmes, global curriculum, global research, global collaborations, and global interaction through a global faculty. In the academic year 2011-12, JGLS offers a five year B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) programme; a three year LL.B. programme and a two year LL.M. programme. The two year LL.M. programme of JGLS is offered for law graduates, corporate lawyers, legal practitioners, civil servants, diplomats and judges with three options for specialisation. (Hons.), three year LL.B. and two year LL.M. programmes at JGLS will be selected on merit, i.e. their performance in the Law School Admission Test—India (LSAT—India). LSAT—India is an entrance test designed by the Law School Admission Council (LSAC), USA and is conducted by Pearson VUE, LSAC’s affiliate in India. The test will be in a multiple choice format and will cover logical reasoning, analytical reasoning and reading comprehension. A sample test is available on the LSAT—India website - www.pearsonvueindia.com/lsatindia. Jindal Outstanding Merit Scholarships The top five LSAT—India test scorers who enroll in the three year LL.B. programme, five year B.A. LL.B. This will be based solely on their performance in the LSAT—India admission test. Naveen Jindal Young Global Scholarships The aim of the scholarship is to nurture, encourage and support young global leaders. One student from the three year LL.B. programme, one student from the five year B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) programme, and another student from the two year LL.M. programme will be awarded this scholarship on the basis of an independent selection process. An award of Rs. 5 lakhs will be given to each student. Shallu Jindal Outstanding Women Scholarships The aim of the scholarship is to nurture, encourage and support outstanding women to enter the field of law. Two students from the three year LL.B. programme, two students from the five year B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), and two students from the two year LL.M. programme will be awarded this scholarship on the basis of an independent selection process. An award of Rs. 2 lakhs will be given to each student. CurriculumandPedagogyJGLS is committed to providing global legal education to its students. To fulfill this objective, the curriculum and teaching pedagogy is designed to give extensive exposure to students to domestic, international and comparative law courses. Students at JGLS study compulsory courses and choose from an unparalleled array of elective courses. In addition to courses on substantive and procedural law, students will gain lawyering skills through practical training papers and clinical legal programmes. JGLS will inculcate sound research and writing skills among students by requiring them to write research papers and participate in the Research Centres.

International educational collaborations and partnerships are essential to promote the global nature of JGLS. JGLS has developed partnerships with leading law schools worldwide. These Collaborations with Yale Law School, Harvard Law School, University of Michigan Law School, Cornell Law School; Indiana University Maurer School of Law (USA); University of Cambridge (UK), Osgoode Hall Law School, Queen’s University School of Law (Canada); Australian National University, United Nations University and Tokiwa University (Japan), amongst others—include MoUs that establish student and faculty exchange opportunities, high profile conferences, joint research initiatives, and other joint educational initiatives. JGLS continues to build collaborations with institutions in Brazil, Europe, South Africa, and other areas of the world in an effort to build an unparalleled network for student exchange and research learning, a resource that will be available to all JGLS students.

CareerDevelopmentandPlacementDivisionJGLS has established a Career Development and Placement Division with a view to provide career opportunities to students and graduates of JGLS. JGLS has signed Memoranda of Understandings (MoUs) with several reputed Indian law firms including, Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A Shroff & Co, AZB & Partners, FoxMandal Little, Luthra & Luthra Law Offices, Nishith Desai Associates and Khaitan & Co. to develop knowledge based partnerships and interaction with law firms and to facilitate internships and placements for JGLS students and graduates. JGLS has a network of lawyers engaged in international legal practice abroad. The JGLS Committee of International Lawyers (J-CIL) is a New York-based association of practising lawyers from leading law firms worldwide committed to providing global perspectives on emerging legal issues. J-CIL provides insights into global legal profession and offers advice on career counselling to JGLS students and graduates.
