1. JOB INFORMATION

JOB TITLE:Production Manager

BAND: 3

RELIEF: Production Manager/s / Section Leader/s

LOCATION: Ashbourne

2. JOB PURPOSE

Production Managers are responsible for leading the Operations team of a business unit, to achieve the profit and performance targets set by the factory manager. Drive continuous improvement through maximising operational effectiveness and efficiencies whilst reducing costs through the development of people, processes and systems. Sets improvement strategies for own business unit KPIs, enhancing the group mission, vision and value as set out in the Plan to Lead. Build and foster enhanced teamwork within a specific area.

3. RESPONSIBILITIES

3.1 FINANCIAL

Budgetary responsibility for business unit.

Deliver on site PIPs and KPIs within budget.

3.2 STAFF

Optimum staffing levels needed to run the unit effectively and deliver the strategic profit improvement plans.

Devise effective organisational structure based on delivering financial and operational targets, objectives and associated KPIs.

3.3 ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE / REPORTING LINE

4. DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES

To develop and work as part of a site operations team to deliver site operational objectives.

To implement process KPIs to exceed customer score card.

Lead by example in promoting a harmonious working environment in line with the Companys policies in Equal Opportunities, Harassment and code of ethics.

Maintain and uphold all aspects of Company HR policies in particular standards of discipline, communication and industrial relations.

Develop, train, coach and motivate the Unit team and operatives, in conjunction with the HR department and carry out annual performance reviews.

Optimise labour utilisation by reducing absenteeism, labour turnover and holiday planning.

Advise or recommend any improvement to work methods which could improve productivity, performance or economy of operation.

Report to the factory / general manager immediately any occurrence that could affect the finances or security of the company or put its name into disrepute.

Responsible for all activities within the respective business unit across all shifts.

Is sufficiently flexible in terms of hours of work to support and cover his or her subordinates.

Contribute to that department / add value be developing requisite skills in this area in line with MP competency framework.

Be conscious of public relations and the image of the Company such that the operation is managed to uphold the presentation of the Company to visitors, customers and general public.

Attend / chair team meetings as required and have clear strategies for good communication between management and operatives to help maintain good industrial relations and improve overall effectiveness of the business.

Accountable for the manufacture of quality product which meets the customer specification.

Measure and review KPIs to ensure the site meets its operational objectives.

Continuous improvement driven through developing people and fostering teamwork and optimise processes across various shifts and areas.

Any other reasonable duties as requested by Production / Factory manager.

To monitor and control any negative environmental impact arising from the processes within area of responsibility; ensuring that all direct reports and colleagues are briefed and clear in regards to their responsibilities as outlined in

7. HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible through normal channels of communication for implementing the company procedures for Health and Safety matters. You will take all reasonable practicable measures to ensure the health and safety of all persons working under your control. You have a general duty of care for all employees, visitors, the environment and contractors working in you departments. You will be responsible for ensuring that personnel under your control are made aware of the Moy Park Health and Safety Policy and safety rules and that the appropriate training and information on health and safety mattes are given.

Understand the Moy Park Health and Safety Policy, Company Safety Rules and Statutory requirements applying to all operations under your control.

Ensure that the arrangements made by the Company to secure the Health and Safety of employees are implemented.

Ensure that all employees in you departments are trained and given such information, instruction and supervision as may be necessary to enable them to work safely, without injury to health.

Ensure that all persons in your department are trained and given such information, instruction and supervision as may be necessary to enable them to work safely, without injury to health.

Ensure that all persons in your department know the procedures for reporting accidents.

Ensure that all persons in your department are made aware of the location of the first aid facilities.

Ensure that all persons in you departments are familiar with the routine in case of fire or other emergency that might require evacuation of the workplace.

Ensure that all accidents and dangerous occurrences are investigated promptly and reported, stating the cause of the accident and/or occurrence and the action taken or recommended to prevent recurrence.

Ensure that hazards in the departments are identified and that risk assessments are completed, to the appropriate standard.

Ensure that all substances under your management have suitable and sufficient risk assessments (COSHH) completed (if appropriate), are stored in the correct manner and that copies of all COSHH assessments are passed to the Health and Safety Advisor for inclusion in the COSHH Manual.

Continually seek to develop safe practices and safe systems of work.

Set an example in safe behaviour.

Where applicable, ensure that all plant, machinery and equipment is safe to use and in particular, that all dangerous parts of machinery are guarded and that the guards provided are correctly fitted, adjusted and maintained, whilst the machinery is in motion or use.

Ensure that overalls, protective clothing and equipment provided is adequate for the purpose intended and is used by all persons as appropriate

Ensure that good housekeeping and hygiene standards are maintained throughout your areas of responsibility.

Ensure that appropriate remedial action is taken in respect of all reported defects and complaints relating to Health and Safety.

Ensure full honest co-operation with the appointed Safety Representatives where appointed, in matters relating to Health and Safety.

Ensure full co-operation with HR Manager and appointed claims investigator in matters relating to employers liability claims.

Ensure that at least 4 times per year, systematic and comprehensive safety inspections are carried out throughout your departments/areas. A copy of the report must be submitted to the Health and Safety Advisor. Corrective action must be implemented on the basis of all written reports and on other performance indicators.

Ensure that where a contract has been agreed to carry out a task within your department the system relating to temporary employees or contractors is followed.

Any employee breaching employee health and safety responsibilities will be liable for investigation which may result in disciplinary action in accordance with the Companys disciplinary policy.
