COURSE OUTLINE
An Introductory Greeting: Why a Joy-at-Work Course
Dear One,
Thank you for choosing The Joy-at-Work Center (JAWC)!
We each mentor best from our life’s journey so as I share mine here with you, please apply it to your own
spirituality as needed. One day I would love to hear from you as well.
Our Joy-at-Work course is our signal course and serves as a pre-requisite for all other courses taken at
JAWC. Why is this so?
After serving in the field of education at both the corporate and academic levels and working with students in
some 43 counties over these past 35 years, I carefully thought through the core reason for my starting The
Joy-at-Work Center. I reached the conclusion that what I long to see in education today is a tight integration
of values and faith. For years we have graduated millions of brilliant workplace participants yet the world
remains in a desperate state with a global suicide rate of one life every 40 seconds. This is alarming when one
precious life is too many.
I pondered over what the world would be like if we came to the realization that there is no replica of any
human being. Each is made uniquely with a special gifting and calling. Each is called to use this gifting and
calling toward purposeful work. This is the type of work that is more than just a paycheck or a duty whether in
or out of the home. Through this purposeful journey, each realizes that he or she fills a special place in this
world so if absent, the world is deprived of a valuable life.
It is my sincere hope that through this JAWC walk, many will come to a state of fulfillment thus reducing any
thought of suicide.
Love, Dale
Transformational Leaders – Ongoing sharpening of our Skills for Service
Transformational Leadership produces a Joy-at-Work environment where we love, respect and support
those with whom we work daily – whether in or out of the home; whether paid or unpaid. To do this
well, we want to keep sharpening our skills for service.

COURSE TITLE Joy-at-Work Certificate (JAWC)
COURSE THEME Daily joy through Purposeful Work
LEADING
SCRIPTURE
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the LORD, not for
human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the LORD
as a reward. It is the LORD Christ you are serving. (Colossians 3:23-24).
COURSE SLOGAN Creating lasting Joy in the Workplace through Purpose!
GENERAL COURSE
DESCRIPTION
This global certification is designed for all individuals and organizations serving
others through any type of work done in or out of the home and whether paid or
unpaid. The goal is to inculcate each participant into a Joy-at-Work (JAW) culture
that can positively impact the individual, the organization and society as a whole. It is
about creating the type of lasting joy that comes from respecting each other’s purpose
and uniqueness. For organizations, the goal is to bring all team members to a place
where they leave their home family to come to their work family daily and cannot
wait to return the next day. Compare this with being unhappy all day at work or
watching the clock to see when the day will end! JAW creates a sense of value
through daily decision making that is done based on an advisory process where input
from other team members is critical. JAW stands strong on the pillars of love, respect
and support. The outcome is personal and professional fulfillment along with high
team synergy. It is more than just a paycheck or any other form of extrinsic reward
that is just not sustainable! It is about continued profitability through high retention as
work satisfaction becomes deeply intrinsic!
AUDIENCE For those transformational leaders who have a deep intolerance for business as usual,
church as usual, education as usual, government as usual. These leaders desire a
change that is transformational from self then to community.
