Quote: “I die the king’s good servant, but God’s first.” ˜ St. Thomas More

Summary: St. Thomas More was a husband, father, politician, diplomat, lawyer, knight, philosopher, chancellor, writ-er, defender of the Church, prisoner and martyr. In 1505, he married his beloved Jane Colt who bore him four children, and when she died at a young age, he married a widow, Alice Middleton, to be a mother for his young children.

He sought the truth and lived his life in accordance to the truth. He was heavily involved in the Protestant Reformation debate with Martin Luther vigorously de-fending the Catholic church, its authority, tradition and practices. St. Thomas More was beheaded by King Henry VIII when he refused to support the king in his request for divorce from Catherine Aragon so he could marry Anne Boleyn.

JULY 17, 2016

July 1, 2016

Dear Friend of Cross Road, Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclination, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence. - John Adams The tears of joy and cheering by abortion activists that accompanied the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn laws requiring abortion clinics to meet basic safety standards confirms the frightening truth that reason has been fully eclipsed by emotion in our nation. As Clarke Forsythe, acting president of Americans United for Life, notes: In striking down these com-monsense requirements, the Supreme Court has essentially accepted the abortion industry’s argu-ment that it should be allowed to keep its profits high and patient care standards low. And Carol Tobias, the president of National Right to Life, wonders: How shabby are these abortion clinics that they cannot meet the minimum standards other outpatient surgical centers are required to meet and just how bad are these abortionists that they can’t get admitting privileges at a local hospi-tal? This tendency to rationalize rather than reason, to justify one’s impulsive acts rather than reform them according to the facts, has now reached the point of absurdity as progressive thinkers often argue for conclusions that contradict their own premises. Promoting false narratives that fly in the face of more obvious facts leads to an angry reaction by those struggling to make it in the real world. As we come to another critical election where we must decide our nation’s course for the next four years, we find ourselves faced with a choice between a future of lies and one of anger. As ominous as these options appear, our future may not be so bleak. Just as the moon blocking the sun continues to move on, so the dimming of the American mind will eventually pass. We continue to pray that responsible leaders will step forward on all levels to protect our inalienable rights and to chal-lenge the false narratives that distort the truth about life. For our part, we will continue to encourage women and men to see clearly the bright future before them with their unborn child. Thank you for your continued support. Sincerely,

Bill Harder
