“BALL MOVING AFTER ADDRESS” Rule 18-2 b
The photo highlights a potentially risky situation. My shot lands in a precarious spot (photo on the top). If the ball might move or roll, it’s smart golf to play this shot without grounding your club, (photo at bottom). Notice my club is above the ball but not grounded. Let’s look at some definitions. Addressing the ball: A player had addressed the ball when he has taken his stance and grounded his club, except in a hazard a player has addressed the ball when he has taken his stance.
The rule states: “If a players ball in play moves after he has addressed it (other than as the result of a stroke), the player is deemed to have moved the ball and incurs a penalty of one stroke. The ball must be replaced unless the movement of the ball occurs after the player has begun the stroke or the backward movement of the club for the stroke and the stroke is made”. Tread carefully in situations like this, play it safe, and don’t ground your club!

I Need Your Help to Prevent Crime!
Since the beginning of July, the evening security officer has found 15 garage doors open during his nightly patrols. In previous community newsletters, I informed you how this can lead to crimes of opportunities, such as theft and burglary. I also listed security tips to help keep your residence safe and secure. However, this continues to be a community wide security problem. Sometimes living in a gated community can give us a false sense of security, but as we learned back in April with the eight auto burglaries we experienced and the home invasions that occurred in other nearby communities, crime can occur anywhere at any time.
Additionally, we have run into problems notifying residents because they do not have valid phone numbers in their profile. Please take this time to update your profile and remember to close your garage and lock your car before going in for the evening. I need your help in keeping Heritage Bay a safe crime free community.
Where is that Speed Gun thingy at?
This is a question I have been getting frequently since I began using the TruCAM laser detection device. And the answer is: it’s everywhere! The TruCAM is a hand held mobile device which I can carry with me and deploy at different locations throughout the community at any time. But I will give you a hint, the majority of violations are on Heritage Bay Blvd between the round-about and the Club House…wink wink! To date I have sent out 40, yes that was 40, speed violation warning letters, but the good thing is I have not had any repeat violators after sending out a warning. And if anyone is curious, the record speed is 47 mph…crazy right! Bottom line is, speeding at any rate is extremely dangerous within a residential community, which accommodates walkers, runners, bicyclists and golfers all sharing the roadways. With the everyday hustle and bustle of life, a million things on our minds and technology to distract us, it’s easy to not realize how fast we are going, especially coming right off Immokalee Rd where we were just doing 50+ mph….25 mph can feel like a crawl. Remember once you come through the gate, you are home and the minute you might save to get there, isn’t worth the life you might take. This is your home, so please take this time to remind yourself, family,
guests and vendors to abide by our traffic regulations in an effort to make Heritage Bay a safe accident free community. Greg Gaffney-Director of Security

The Difference between Golfers Elbow and Tennis Elbow
Golfers Elbow - also called medial epicondylitis – located on the inside of the elbow. Golfers Elbow is micro-tears to muscle and tendons that control movement of the elbow.
Tennis Elbow – also called lateral epicondylitis – located on the outside of the elbow. Tennis elbow is micro-tears to muscle, tendons, and ligaments.
In both cases, the micro-tears cause restriction of movement, pain, and in-flammation from the elbow down to the wrist. If left untreated, the micro-tears can form scar tissue or calcium deposits resulting in lack of blood flow by pinching nerves in the muscle.
Cause - The main cause of Golfers Elbow and Tennis Elbow is overuse and lack of rest to the damaged muscle tissue and tendons. Proper warming and stretching of the muscle will prevent injury.
Treatment - The first step to treating Golfers and Tennis Elbow is utilizing R.I.C.E., (rest, ice, compression, and elevation). Within the first 48-72 hours, massage and heat are one of the most effective treatments for remov-ing scar tissue, calcium deposits and speeding up the healing process of the muscles, tendons, and ligaments.
After the pain has subsided use proper stretching and strengthening exercises. If you do not know exercises get with me to help you with the exercises.
