Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Philip & Andrew In today’s Gospel, can you see your self as Philip or Andrew? Philip is seeing the world through materialistic eyes, perhaps being “practical”, and Andrew leaves a little room for hope. How do we approach unexpected events in our lives?
A 100 year old Oak tree suddenly crashes through your roof, how do you react? Once we find out if any-one is hurt we immediately begin fretting over “how to fix it”, practical right? Today Jesus is calling us to-day to leave a little room for him to work. If we are constantly worrying and trying to fix everything where is our relationship with God. How hard is it for you to open your hand and hold it out to God? When we say the Our Father we are asking God for things. Do we really want to receive graces and blessings or do we want to say I fixed it no problem, I do not need a thing? Let us recline on the grass and allow the Good Shep-herd to care for us. Let us leave some room for Him to work in our daily lives and renew the statement with every decision we make, “What would Jesus do?”

Felipe y Andrés En el Evangelio de hoy, ¿puedes verte a ti mismo como Felipe o Andres? Felipe está viendo el mundo a través de los ojos materialistas, tal vez siendo con practico, y Andrés deja un pequeño espacio para la esperanza. ¿Cómo abordamos eventos inesperados en nuestras vidas? Si un árbol de 100 años de repente se estrella contra tu techo, ¿cómo reaccionas? Una vez que descubrimos si alguien está herido inmediatamente comenzamos a preocuparnos por “Cómo arreglarlo , práctico ¿no? Hoy Jesús nos llama hoy a dejarle un pe-queño espacio para que trabaje. Si nos preocupamos constantemente y tratamos de arreglar todo, ¿dónde está nuestra relación con Dios? ¿Qué tan difícil es para ti abrir tu mano y ofrecérsela a Dios? Cuando decimos el Padre-nuestro le pedimos cosas a Dios. ¿Realmente queremos recibir gracias y bendiciones o queremos decir que no lo solucioné, no necesito nada? Descansemos en el pasto y permitamos que el Buen Pastor cuide de nosotros. Dejemos un espacio para que Él trabaje en nuestras vidas diarias y renueve la declaración con cada decisión que tomemos, “¿Qué haría Jesús?
