Hay quienes pudiendo llevar una vida cómoda, lo han dejado todo porque han

encontrado un tesoro más valioso.

THIS IS WHY I DON’T LIKE THE

COCONUT CANDY Fr. Jorge A. Román For work reasons, my father traveled throughout Mexico and spent a lot of time away from home. When he returned, it was a great joy for me to have our father back at home. It also gave me great pleasure when he opened his suitcase and distributed very nice gifts to each of his children. I was about five years old when

early one morning, Dad came from Veracruz, left his suitcase in the room, greeted me and told me that he had brought me some candy. Then he went down for breakfast. I could not wait any longer, so I opened his suitcase to find those sweet Candy that he had brought me. I found what I thought was sweet coconut and without further delay, I gave it a voracious bite one. It was then that I realized, with much nausea, that it was not candy, but Coconut Soap! This soap did not fulfill its mission for which it was pre destined for. It is a very common mistake to confuse PRE DESTINATION with PREDETERMINATION. It is thought that, despite what may, our destiny was already written and there is no way to it. which is wrong, since it contradicts the fact that God created us in his image and likeness, that is, with freedom, intelligence and will. If, from the very beginning, we were meant to save or condemn ourselves, to be rich or poor, to be criminals or good people, there would be no reason for the Sacrifice of Christ on the Cross to redeem us. The coconut soap was destined to cleanse the body or hands, but when I gave it a bite, it was not fulfilling its destiny. A bottle of Coca Cola, has been predestined for holding such refreshment. If we fill it with any other liquid, it will be fulfilling its destiny as a bottle, but not for what it was intended for. Thus, we can understand that God chose us and predestined us to the image of His Son and be saved, but we are free to reject the divine plan and refuse to be saved; however, if we fulfill our destiny, then we can enjoy the glory of God. Those who understand their destiny of Divine Love, know how to truly value their things in such a way that they don't seek the goods from this world, but value, like a real treasure, the joy of Heavenly godos, that you can begin to enjoy from this World. Only then we can understand how some people, being able to enjoy wealth, fame or glory, are capable of giving everything up to serve God in the most needy. Then, they resemble that father who always knows how to give good gifts to his children. We are privileged to have been predestined by God to be Saved and be happy since the day of our Baptism. Let us live in joy and turn our steps toward the destiny that God has provided.

ES POR ESTO QUE NO ME GUSTA EL DULCE DE COCO

Por razones de trabajo, mi Papá viajaba por toda la República Mexicana y pasaba mucho tiempo fuera de casa. Cuando regresaba, era una gran alegría para mí el tener a Papá nuevamente en el hogar, pero además, me daba un gusto enorme cuando abría su maleta y repartía regalos muy bonitos a cada uno de sus hijos. Yo tendría unos cinco años cuando en una mañana, muy temprano, Papá llegó de Veracruz, dejó su maleta en el cuarto, me saludó y me dijo que me había traído unos dulces. Luego bajó a desayunar y yo, no pudiendo esperar más, abrí su maleta para buscar esos ricos dulces que me había traído mi Padre. Encontré lo que creí que eran dulces de coco y sin esperar más, le di una voraz mordida a uno de ellos y fue entonces que me di cuenta con mucha nausea que no era dulce, sino ¡Jabón de coco! Ese jabón no cumplió con su misión para la cual estaba PRE DESTINADO. Es un error muy común el confundir PRE DESTINACIÓN con PREDETERMINACIÓN. Se piensa que pese lo que pase, ya estaba escrito y no hay forma de cambiar nuestro destino, lo cual es algo equivocado, ya que contradice el hecho de que Dios nos creó a su imagen y semejanza, es decir, con libertad, inteligencia y voluntad. Si ya desde el comienzo estuviéramos destinados a salvarnos o a condenarnos, a ser ricos o ser pobres, a ser criminales o gente de bien, no tendría razón de ser el Sacrificio de Cristo en la Cruz para redimirnos. El jabón de Coco, estaba predestinado a limpiar el cuerpo o las manos, pero al darle yo una mordida, no estaba cumpliendo con su destino. Una botella de Coca Cola, ha sido predestinada para contener dicho refresco. Si la llenamos de cualquier otro líquido, estará cumpliendo con su destino como botella, pero no para lo cual fue creada. De esta manera, podemos entender que Dios nos eligió y nos predestinó para ser imagen de su Hijo y ser salvados, pero podemos libremente rechazar ese plan divino y rehusarnos a ser salvados; pero si cumplimos con nuestro destino, entonces podremos gozar de la Gloria de Dios. Quienes comprenden su destino de Amor Divino, saben darle su verdadero valor a las cosas, de tal manera que no buscan los bienes de este Mundo, sino que valoran como un verdadero tesoro el gozo de los bienes Celestiales que se comienzan a disfrutar desde este Mundo. Sólo así podemos entender cómo hay quienes pudiendo gozar de riquezas, fama o gloria, son capaces de renunciar a todo para servir a Dios en los más necesitados. Entonces, se parecen a ese Padre de Familia que sabe siempre dar cosas buenas a sus hijos. Tenemos el privilegio de haber sido predestinados por Dios para ser Salvos y ser felices desde el día de nuestro Bautismo. Vivámoslo con alegría y dirijamos nuestros pasos hacia ese destino que Dios nos ha indicado.

“Por eso, quien está instruido en las cosas del Reino de los cielos

es semejante a un padre de famil-ia, que saca de su

maleta regalos para sus hijos.¨

FIESTA DEL SALVADOR DE LAS MONTAÑAS El Domingo 6 de Agosto es la Fiesta de La Transfiguración Del Señor, en la cual Jesús manifestó su Divinidad ante sus Apóstoles en lo alto del Monte Tabor. Es por eso que considerando ese día como la fiesta Patronal de la Misión de Lee Vining, Celebraremos la Misa Solemne a las 10:15 a.m.

PROGRAMAS DE EDUCACIÓN RELIGIOSA - Las fechas de inscripción para el nuevo año escolar serán durante el mes de Agosto de Jueves a Martes de 5:30 a 8 p.m.. En la Oficina de la Parroquia. Por favor traiga el certificado de Bautismo de niños y un donativo voluntario. Se sugiere $50.00 para materiales. Para mayor información, comuníquese al Teléfono de la Parroquia.

SEGUNDA COLECTA.- El Domingo 6 de Agosto tendremos la segunda colecta para completar la meta de $21,500.oo que nuestra Parroquia debe aportar para la Solicitud Ministerial del Obispo. Este dinero será empleado para la formación de Seminaristas, Diáconos Permanentes, Catequistas y para los diversos ministerios de la Diócesis en favor de los más necesitados. Sea generoso por favor

FESTIVITY OF THE SAVIOUR OF THE MOUNTAINS On Sunday, August 6th, is the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, in which Jesus manifested his divinity to his Apostles at the top of Mount Tabor.
