At the monthly theatre board meeting in November, a proposal was made by Julie Karns, new vice-president of the board, to direct and arrange an original variety show called “That’s So Totally ‘80s!”, a musical production based on the music, TV, movies, fashion, and pop culture of the 1980s. The show will alternate songs, skits, and movie and TV reenactments to give the audience a "blast from the past." The production will take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 12th, 13th and 14th. The Friday and Saturday shows will begin at 7:30 pm, and the Sunday matinee will begin at 2 pm. Tickets may be purchased in advance from the Clarinda Foundation office on the north side of the square starting July 18th, or by calling 712-542-4412. Tickets may also be purchased at the door for any of the performances. Ticket prices are $10 for adults, and $5 for stu- dents (Kindergarten to college). Anyone who was born in the 1980s can receive half-off their ticket price by showing proof of age when purchasing or ordering their ticket. Anyone who was born on August 12th, 13th, or 14th, in any year of the 1980s, can receive one free ticket to the show! THE

Page County State Bank is a family owned community bank that has been helping theClarinda area with their banking needs since 1866, making it one of the oldest bankcharters in the State of Iowa. In 1961 the Whitmore Family purchased PCSB and it hasbeen a fixture in the community for 50 years. In times when banks are consolidatingand being bought out, they are very proud to usher in the next generation of ownerswith Scott and Cindy Whitmore making Clarinda their home.Being the only locally owned community bank in the Clarinda area, PCSB understands

the importance of investing in the community. PCSB and the Whitmore Family have re-cently donated to Clarinda projects including Clarinda Regional Health Center, theGlenn Miller Museum, and hole renovation at the Clarinda Country Club. They alsomade a sizeable donation to the New Market Foundation and have been a long-timesupporter of our local 4-H youth at the Page County Fair auction.PCSB prides itself in being a progressive community bank that puts the customer first

with great customer service, knowledgeable employees, and products that save time and money. It is a full service financialinstitution with two locations (NE corner of the square, and a branch on South 16th Street). PCSB offers its customers anabundance of products including Reward Checking, Platinum Money Market, Rock Star Savers Club for children, and loansfor all your agricultural, business, and personal needs.Page County State Bank and the Whitmore Family invite you to come in and visit your favorite bank employee, or just

Snyder’s Auto Body was established in November of 1973 by Frank and Margret Snyder and started with one employeein its current location. In the summer of 1976 Frank purchased his first wreckerand started the 24hr towing part of the business. The recycled parts portion ofthe business evolved out of abandoned cars being left behind in the late seven-ties. In 1983 Snyder’s purchased the property to the west and added the 120x60addition for the use of parts storage, processing and shipping and a larger office.Later in 2001 we added more work space to the back of the body shop. Ourmost recent acquisition was the Schenck Implement property across the street, which we use for equipment storage. Snyder’s currently has 12 full and part timeemployees. We mix our own paint and our techs are EPA rule 40 CFR Part 63certified. Besides collision repair our body shop does glass installation, rock chiprepair and frame straightening. Frank and Keith both serve on the SouthwesternComm. College advisory board for the collision repair program. The recycled

parts portion of the business is CAR Certified (Certified Auto Recycle) though the National Automobile Recyclers Assoc. We are I-care (Iowa Certified Automotive Recyclers Environmental Program), one of only 16 in the State. We are also airbag, fork lift, and freon recycling certified. Snyder’s also participates in the national program ELVS (End of Life Vehicle So-lutions) for removal of Mercury Switches since 2001. We also report all of our title work to NMVTIS (National Motor VehicleTitle Information System). Tom has been an active member in the Iowa Automotive Recyclers Assoc. since 1984, servingon the board and was president in 1992-1993. Our wrecker and flatbed towing service is fully insured. For the last 38years Snyder’s has been proud to be part of the community of Clarinda.

“Top Gun” and “Little Mermaid”; the music videos of Madonna andMichael Jackson; the Energizer Bunny, Pee Wee Herman, and Jazzercise. These are just a few of the acts to be seen in "That's So Totally '80s!" “I am so excited for this show,” Karns said. “I chose to create this showbecause of my love for ‘80s music and fashion. It was just a great era formusic. I’m delighted to see that ‘80s trends are coming back alive as Isee leggings, bangles, and legwarmers for sale in more and more clothingstores.Another reason for Karns’s show proposal is that the production is a va-riety show, much of it written and arranged by her. Since CCT will not beperforming a musical that needs to be licensed with royalty fees, the merecost of the music will be a welcome contrast to the normal cost of royalties.Clarinda Community Theatre has been in the process of trying to raisemoney for its own building. Since royalties for a copyrighted musical cancost CCT upwards of $2,000, this is the perfect way to have a great showand save money for a building. “We are trying to find other ways to raise and save money for this pur-pose,” said Karns. For example, CCT sponsored the Lenten/Easter concert,"Once Upon a Tree", this spring with those proceeds going to the CCTbuilding fund. “A building opportunity recently fell through our fingers be-cause of a lack of funds. Since this is a dream of CCT, we are going to tryto be proactive in the fundraising process so we can be better prepared ifanother building opportunity arises.”If anyone is interested in donating or helping with fundraising for thebuilding fund, please contact Carol Bellairs at (712) 542-3077 or JulieKarns at (712) 304-2054. In addition, Clarinda Community Theatre iscurrently looking to fill vacancies on the board. Any interested parties arewelcome to call the numbers above or talk to any CCT board member.
