ond session 5:45 - 6:30. Thank you
parents for attending Lunch and
Learn sessions for K-3 and 4-5. It is great for
your student to see you as a learner. We ap-
preciate the feedback that you provided for
this event.
Thank you to those of you who participated in
our first School Community Team meeting
(Coffee with the Principal) and provided feed-
back. The next meeting will be during the first
week of December. We are enjoying working
with your students. Please read nightly and
practice math facts for fluency. Thank you so
much from Title I.
Mixed Bag Fundraiser: We're very excited about our Mixed Bag Fundraiser! You should have received information in your child's backpack. These items make excellent Christmas gifts. Online ordering is very easy and is a wonderful option for friends and family who live out of town. Have them use the fol-lowing link for Junaluska to get credit: http://www.mixedbagdesigns.com/landing-page?fundraiserid=47123. The link is also posted in the Junaluska PTA & Volunteer Facebook page and will be there for the duration of the campaign. When you get to the checkout page, you'll be prompted to input your child's name and teacher's name so your student(s) can receive credit. Feel free to email this link or share on your social media channels.
Box Tops: Thanks to everyone who turned in Box Tops. The money we make on this fundraiser truly helps
classroom teachers purchase needed supplies and instructional materials. We will have another collec-tion in February so keep clipping!
Restaurant Nights: Our Chick-fil-A Spirit Night held on October 23 was a huge success. It was wonderful to see so many students, parents, teachers and commu-nity members come out and support JES! Save the date for our Zaxby's Night to be held Tuesday, De-cember 4.
Holiday Dance: Save the date! Our next dance will be Friday, December 14, from 3-5:30 p.m. Be on the lookout for more information in your child's back-pack.
Amazon Smile: If you love Amazon, be sure to use Amazon Smile so Junaluska Elemen-tary gets credit from your purchases.
Title 1 News

White Christmas Canned Food Drive It is time again to start the White Christmas Canned Food
Drive. The cans that are collected will go to help local families in need. There will be a reward given to the
Kindergarten through 2nd grade class and the 3rd through 5th grade class that collects the most cans. The
White Christmas Canned Food drive will start Friday, December 7th and end Tuesday, December 18th.
JES Art News
Look at what we’re experiencing in art...
Our fifth grade had the unique opportunity to take a field trip to see the international artist/puppeteer, Hobey Ford. That same week, Mr. Ford ran a work-
shop at Junaluska to teach some of our students how to make shadow puppets. At the end of the workshop our students were allowed to use their puppets they created to perform a folktale or story for the class in a shadow theatre. The student puppets are on display in the lobby the 1st two weeks in November. Please come by and en-
joy these wonderfully created shadow puppets.
Art Advocacy
The arts teach children to make GOOD JUDGMENTS about qualitative relationships. Unlike much of the curriculum in which correct answers and rules prevail, in the arts,
it is judgment rather than rules that prevail. Keep supporting the arts!
Muffins and Moms On Tuesday, November 27th we would like to wel-
come all moms and their students to our Muffins with moms breakfast. We will eat from 7:15-7:35 in the cafeteria and then we will meet in the library for a
short lesson from Mrs. Marcus. More information coming home
soon!
Media News
K-3 students have been working on the difference between fiction and nonfiction
text. Grades 4-5 have been using Google Sheets with their chrome-
books working on spreadsheets. If you would like to volunteer in the
media center, let Mr. Hyde know. [email protected]
Parents please remember if your child throws up at school, it’s
best if they stay out for 24 hours. Thank you so much!
