Coaltrans Asia, the premiercoal event in the Asianregion, will once again base

itself this June in Bali, where itwas launched so successfully nineyears ago. Key topics that are vitalto the Asian Coal Market will beaddressed at the 9th AnnualCoaltrans Asia Conference.

The Asian Thermal Coal Market

continues to deliver thegreatest potential for coalindustry producers.Since 1995, demandhas grown by 7% perannum in North Asiancountries (Japan,Korea, Taiwan), and by19% per annum in otherAsian countries, according to industryexperts Barlow Jonker. Will thisgrowth in demand continue, and inwhat markets?

China at 84MT of exports continued in2002 to closely maintain the massivegrowth that was seen in 2001, butwill its burgeoning domesticeconomic growth stabilisethe export surge? Willimports of thermal coalmaintain the dramaticrise that has been seenin 2002 and 2003?

Indonesia has shown signsthat coal production is

maturing while the internaldemand has grown at a much

faster rate than wasanticipated, despite the

complex political andeconomic challenges thatthe country faces. Wherewill the new coalproduction be located, and

what are the reservespotential?

Japan, which remains the Asianregion’s largest consumer of steam coal, has sought incremental coal imports

following the problems in the nuclearindustry. Will these extra volumes be

maintained in 2003 and beyond, and what are the elements

behind the proposed newimport tariffs?

Join the key producerssupplying the Asianregion and the key

consumers who will givetheir views on how these

events will unfold.

The VenueThe Sheraton Resort (Sheraton NusaIndah and Sheraton Laguna) and BaliInternational Convention Centre havewon endless praise throughout Asia asone of the leading conference locationsin the region.

SecurityStrict security measures will beoperating at the Conference venue andthroughout the proceedings.
