15-16 Calendar Dates

• DGS: College Exploration Night: March 16th

Pick 3 sessions: U of C, U of I, Millikin, Bradley, Military, Essay Writing, Financial Aid

ACT testing:

• April 19: All juniors are pre-registered to take test at DGS

• Register at www.actstudent.org

• Registration deadline is March 4 for April 9th test

• Late fee will apply if you register after March 18th

• You are required to upload a photo

* Keep in mind some more selective schools require SAT

Athletic Eligibility

• NCAA

– Division I and/or II potential student athletes are recommended to register with the NCAA Eligibility Center during Sophomore Year

– Register ASAP if you are planning to enroll

• NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics)

– Need to register with NAIA Eligibility Center

–COA includes:

– Tuition, room and board, books, transportation etc.

– Review college websites to view the estimated the COA

–FAFSA- Free Application For Student Aid

–Students can now apply for FAFSA OCTOBER 1st, 2016

Target 5:Teacher Evaluations and Formal Letters of Recommendation

College Recommendation Letter Request Process

1. Narrow your list of colleges which you will be applying

2. Do they require Recommendation letters? How many?

3. If yes, request informal teacher evaluations (3-4)

a. These will be used to help counselors write letters

4. Email teachers with reason of request, the class you have

with them and to thank them

5. Complete required questions for college recommendations on

Naviance

4. Enter student e-mail address (jsmi1234@csd99.org) as username.

5. Enter student ID# as password
