Marion Oki has been cutting hair since Jr. High when she helped her mom with the shop. Her mom started kahala barber in 1931, originally located where the Aloha Gas station is now. They relocated to Kahala Mall when it first opened and were among the first tenants. Back then, Oki said they were surrounded by nothing more than farmland, with a family of pig farmers across the street. They offer haircut, hi-lite, perm and color for women, men, and keiki of all ages. In addition, they provide straight razor shaves. Most of her

staff and clients have been with her for more than 30 years. Marion recalls a patron who has been a regular since childhood. “I remember cutting his hair while he was in his stroller, and now I climb on a box to cut his hair,” she smiles as she tells the story. Marion, along with her staff, is very friendly and warm towards their customers and enjoys making conversation. “I’ve been very fortunate to have customers who have been coming here for many years,” she says.

Hot for spring are bright and bold stripes and lovely laces.

Sweet and Savory

kelly and thao “nicky” mcgill brings hip and cutting edge women's shoes found on the fashion runways to Hawaii at a reasonable price. They opened the only “boutique-style” shoe store in Hawaii in July of 2005 and Kahala Mall will be their 3rd location.

Thao previously owned a popular wholesale shoe outlet in the largest wholesale market in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Her experience in selling to a broad national and international clientele prepped her for the task of bringing to Hawaii a one-of-a-kind shoe shopping experience.

They are fully involved in the design process and work closely with some of the same

manufacturers that high-end designers around the world use. 90% of their shoes are manufactured in Italy and Brazil using only the best materials and craftsmanship.

From casual sandals and flats to dressy boots and sexy high heels, their line of women’s shoes ranges from $30 to $70. Their goal is to provide quality shoes while keeping prices low. They also carry baby shoes for boys and girls, priced between $10 to $20 and their own line of handbags.

There's something new all the time at Nicky Shoe Company that will have you stepping out in style!
