WHO MONITORS ADVERTISING

The main function of the Advertising Standard

Authority is to check the advertising in New Zealand

and to make sure it’s appropriate. Members of the

public may complain at no cost about any

advertisement in any media, which they believe

breaches the advertising standards and rules, and

they have the right to do that. Complaints are heard

and decisions are made if the advert has breached

the rules or not. If rules have been breached, there

are consequences, depending on the severity of the

breach.
