The challenge and the rewards that you get
out of running your own class are immense,
and I wish Jason all the best in this new ven-
ture. If any students would like to visit his
class I know Jason would be thrilled to have
you train with him and his group, so see his
contact details on the club website.
I would like to wish the best of luck to all
those undertaking their gradings this week-
end, in particular all our new white belts.
Remember - gradings are not about passing or
failing - they are about seeing if you are ready
for your next step in learning. We are there to
help you on the day so do not put pressure on
yourself. Just do what you have been doing in
class, that‟s all we expect from you. Bear in
mind that you would not be going for the
grading if your instructor didn‟t think you
were ready for it, so stay relaxed and focus on
your strengths.
Over the past few months I have been doing
some surprise visits to the classes and have
been very pleased at the standard and growth
within our clubs. So far I have made it to
Kallangur, Redcliffe, Narangba, Bald Hills,
Banyo and Ormeau. Soon I will be heading to
Bribie Island, Murrumba Downs and Decep-
tion Bay - to get a feel for how things are
going, and to spar as many people as possible.
This gives me a chance to give a few extra
pointers and tips to you all. If I can help you
to improve just a little bit then I feel it is
worth the effort. It is also for my benefit -
while I am getting my fitness level up in
preparation for my own grading for 6th Dan -
plus it‟s a lot of fun.
We recently held our first training camp for
the year down on the Gold Coast and I have
to commend the incredible effort that was put
in by all those in attendance. From our first
time visitors to our more experienced mem-
bers, the commitment displayed was terrific.
Welcome to our first newsletter for 2015! It
seems that we only just had our Christmas
breakup and social day at Wet ‟n‟ Wild water
park (where lots of fun was had by all). I
would like to start by greeting all our new
members to the organisation - and hope you
enjoy your training with us. Our big news is
the opening of a brand new class at Deception
Bay being run by Mr Jason Pascoe (2nd Dan).
He is operating out of the PCYC on Mondays
and Thursdays. It‟s great to see Jason taking
his training to the next level, as I believe that
the best way for a black belt to improve and
move forward in martial arts is to teach it.
It was by no means an easy weekend away
either, with a big focus on cardio fitness and
handwork. I believe everyone present ex-
celled over the weekend and took something
away that will benefit them in their classes
and next grading. See the camp review in this
newsletter for a wrap up of the events and
some pictures that tell all. Great work by eve-
ryone! I was very proud of your accomplish-
ments.
Next month we have our Black Belt camp at
The Log Cabin near the Natural Bridge in the
Gold Coast hinterland. This camp is open to
all Brown Belts and higher grades via invita-
tion from your instructor - it is not for every-
one because of the high intensity of the train-
ing. We visited there last year and were all
blown away by the incredible position and
„back to nature‟ feel of the venue. So much
so, we booked two camps there this year, so
all coloured belts can start looking forward to
experiencing it at another camp in early No-
vember. This camp is not catered - you have
to bring and cook your own food, so I suggest
bringing prepared meals and easy-to-heat
type food. There is however a fully equipped
commercial kitchen with microwaves, gas
stove, fridge and freezer and everything
you‟d require to cook. So think about what
you will take in advance and remember that
there are no shops nearby to easily drive to -
you need to clean up after yourself as well.
Starting in early May we have the first round
in our Tournament series, beginning with
Banyo. Each year the standard of competition
gets better and better as we all learn from our
previous experiences. For our new members
to know what to expect, talk to your fellow
class members who have already participated.
We have sparring divisions, pattern divisions
and a team division where all aspects of your
Tae Kwon Do skills are put on display. Points

not been to a tournament to get in-
volved for fun and exciting day. These
tournaments are great for the students
confidence, and their families and
friends to have a fun day by getting in-
volved and cheering along.
Everyone who participated last year had
a big hand in helping the Kallangur
Club try to regain the perpetual club
trophy. This is again our opportunity to
show the IMT family that the Kallangur
Club is the one to beat.
Train Hard
are awarded through the year for competing
and extra points for placing in the various
divisions. At the end of the third round we
award Grand Champions to each age and rank
division, and there is always lots of club ri-
valry for the Perpetual Club Trophy.
Speaking of tournaments, we have started the
year well with a small group competing at the
first round of the AMAC (Australian Martial
Arts Competition). There were some excel-
lent results for Jason Parker (1st in Black Belt
Points Contact Sparring), Brett Parker ( 1st
Black Belt Freestyle, 2nd BB Points Contact,
2nd Points Sparring), Joe Sandona (1st BB
Forms, 3rd BB points sparring, 4th BB free-
style sparring), Ebony Eayrs (1st Adv points,
2nd Adv freestyle sparring, 1st sword, 4th Su-
mo), and young Coban Parker competed for
the first time in AMAC (2nd Adv freestyle
sparring, 4th Adv forms). What a great way to
start off this three round series! Anyone that
would like to try their hand please feel free to
contact your instructor for details and get
involved. I might even throw my hat into the
ring and give the veterans division a bit of a
shake-up.
We are very lucky in the IMT to have an
amazing group of people that function as one
big family. The support we have on offer is
rarely found, particularly when it comes to
fundraising. As a lot of you will know, one of
our own - Michael Griffith, 2nd Dan from
Bribie Island - is battling the fight of his life
against cancer. This has given a lot of motiva-
tion to a lot of people to help raise money for
the Leukaemia Foundation which I was
amazed to learn gets no funding from the
Australian Government in any way. This is
both unbelievable and sad. We are on a mis-
sion to contribute - and it‟s being driven by
our ladies in particular. They have put their
heads and hearts together to get some events
happening, starting with a Trivia Night on the
25th of April to be held at the Kallangur Com-
munity Hall on Anzac Ave. It has a cost of
$20 per head and promises to be a great night
with raffles and prizes. Form a team of
friends (they don‟t have to be from Tae Kwon
Do), get a table booked (min 4, max of 8),
come up with a team name and be ready to
donate and have a fantastic time with us all.
Bookings are through Melanie Parker on
0435 209 389. Please everyone – come along
and lets pack the hall out to raise some funds
for such an incredible cause.
The second event organised by these won-
derful women is “Ladies Unleashed 2015”, a
day of Self-Defence workshops for Women to
be held on the 18th of April, featuring female
instructors, a guest police speaker, and us as
highly trained assistants (both male and fe-
male). Again, all proceeds are going to the
Leukaemia Foundation with a cost of only
$15 per head. There will be 2 sessions availa-
ble to attend - one at Banyo in the morning,
and one at Burpengary in the afternoon. This
is not just for students but all interested la-
dies, so get your friends and families involved
- have them do something for themselves and
raise money at the same time. Please get in-
volved and show you care for those affected
by cancer.
The last thing I would like to mention is my
upcoming grading for 6th Dan. I have been
working very hard to increase my fitness lev-
els and feel I am on track for early July to
undertake this grading. The grading will be
open to all members to come and watch -
with the venue to be announced shortly. I am
focusing on the Black Belt patterns and spar-
ring (hence my class visits). At age 51, it is
not about being „Superman‟-level fit like our
2nd and 3rd Dan gradings, but more about abil-
ity and style. I have investigated other TKD
clubs‟ 6th Dan gradings and felt I wanted an
even greater challenge – mostly they involved
only demonstrating two patterns. I‟ll be going
from 1st Dan right through to our highest pat-
terns, and will be sparing all instructors in
order to reinforce my strengths and kicking
skills. I hope you all get the chance to come
and share in this very important event for the
organisation.
Till then - I encourage you all to train hard,
kick high and keep striving for perfection.

“To my FB (let's face it, real life friends) I am here to ask
for your help and support! On the 25th of April I am host-
ing a trivia night, with ALL proceeds going to the leukae-
mia foundation. How can you help me?? COME!!! Bring a
team, minimum of 4, max of 8! Pre purchasing is really
helpful for us to sort tables etc.! I promise it will be awe-
some!! The raffle prizes are amazing!! There will be DJ
music after to have a party! You can BYO alcohol, pur-
chase soft drinks. Your ticket will get you, an AWESOME
night... Yummy finger foods, desert and tea and coffee.!
But.. Hang on... What will you really get from the night??
You will be supporting a charity which needs your sup-
port!!!! A charity which currently gets no government
funding!!! It's hard to believe!! NO funding!!!!!
On April 25th, IMT will be supporting a fundraising event
which has been organised by Melanie Parker. The event is
a trivia nigh to raise funds for the Leukaemia Foundation.
As you may remember, many of us at IMT raised over
$6000 for the Leukaemia Foundation last year with your
help during their annual “World‟ Greatest Shave” event.
There are many inspiring people in the world who take
responsibility for making the change they want to see in the
world. To really sell this event to you, I have decided to
share Melanie's Facebook post regarding this event.
Please do you best to give any support you can. Let us all
take responsibility for change.
FIND A CURE TRIVIA NIGHT
Sadly, we can all relate to the EVIL that is CANCER! We can also relate to the innocence and the purity which cancer tries
to destroy! Beautiful people, real people who are, in my experience, some of this planets greatest!! People who are so
strong, that even in their darkest hours, find the strength to be positive and courageous and humble! People who like my
dear friend. Mike expose themselves to trial drugs because " even if it can't help him, it may help others in the future"
I know, we all feel helpless, we have all watched, mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters and friends face this
monster, face the biggest fight there is, the fight for life.
Could you imagine, that you want to live, you love your life, you are needed by others you want to help others, but some-
thing out of your control, has the power to take that all away. Cancer has no bias, cancer strikes all walks of life, cancer
strikes without warning and without care..
As a human being, I am affected by world events, I am effected by the world of terrorism, cruelty to other humans, and ani-
mals.. I want to change it all!!! I bet you all do!! I am friends with you, I know you all and I know you want it all to stop!
So many things which need our help so many issues which need addressing. But amidst all of it, we can do our part, we can
help our world, we can help other human beings. One day, there will be a cure, and we can all help make that happen.
Every dollar helps, every new piece of research helps. I know it's Anzac Day, and the evening will begin with respect to our
soldiers, but it's also fitting in the respect, that we are also fighting to save lives.
I can picture certain teams forming and I really ask for your support. It will be a great night, for a great cause! xxx also if
any if you would like to donate a prize, it would be so appreciated! Inbox me if you need. xxx
There is a flyer with this newsletter with all of the details. Please support, donate and share. Thank You.

By Jason Parker
4th Degree Black Belt
Being the start of the year, there is already a
bit of news to share. I will first like to start
by congratulating Jason Pascoe
on his opening of a new club
for IMT in Deception Bay. I
have been training Jason for
many years now, and it is with
great pride that I can witness
this next journey in his Martial
Arts career. I wish him all the
best with his own class, good luck Jas!
Redcliffe has had a good influx of new and
returning students this year. We have also
lost a few students, but class numbers are
punch. Like a kick or a punch, they need to
be practiced with both legs, and as part of a
combination.
Using your set sparring as a way to practice
is the best way, but remember to use them
in other areas of your training like self de-
fence and sparring.
There are a few things that we sometimes
forget to do when it comes to takedowns, so
here are a few reminders.
Get your opponent off balance first,
then remove their support.
Pay attention where the persons weight
is. It is easier to go with it, than change
it.
Technique makes everything easier, try
not to rely on size and strength, in-
stead, focus on leverage
doing well and everyone is training hard.
There is a big year of training coming up,
with camps, tournaments, gradings and
training sessions. I encourage everyone to
make their best effort to attend any addi-
tional sessions and events they can through-
out the year. There is plenty
of opportunities to expand
your knowledge and experi-
ence with these opportunities,
so make the most of them.
Training Tips:
Takedowns:
We learn takedowns fairly early, usually at
yellow belt They are just another technique
to be practiced and repeated, like a kick or a

LADIES UNLEASHED SELF-DEFENCE WORKSHOP
Far too often in the current day, we hear about
women or girls being attacked, raped, and
even murdered. Just last week, Melbourne
school girl Masa Vukotic, was brutally mur-
dered while walking through a park alone
listening to music. Why are we having our
sense of safety taken away from us, and why
should we feel intimidated in our right to walk
alone? At what point do we decide to take
control and say this is not ok, and how do we
go about it?
Saturday 18 April 2015, will see us holding
the 3rd round of our “Ladies Unleashed – Self
Defense Workshop for Women”. These ses-
sions are a great starting point for females
who want to take that first step towards taking
control. There will be a Police guest speaker,
who will cover many topics ranging from the
flight/fight responses, to getting inside the mind of an attacker. You will get to learn some basic self defense strategies for different
attacks, and get to unleash some frustrations on pads. Sometimes just realizing what you are capable of, is an important step towards
gaining some self confidence, and is important in your ability to think clearly if you were put in an unfavourable situation.
So if you care about yourself, or any other females in your life, contact details for these workshops are on the flyer. We hope to see
you there to take part in these life changing workshops. All proceeds will be donated to The Leukemia Foundation.
Testimonials from past participants Shauna: “Informative, friendly environment & fun.”
Lauren: “The session covered all sorts of possible attacks and it was theoretical as well as practical, plus it was a workout and a
good time! My friend and I will definitely come again. We had a great time!”

SOMETHING TO PONDER:
Have you suffered from ‘GRADING BRAIN’?
Symptoms:
Eyes glazed over like a deer in the headlights
A high level of stress (even involving tears) prior to the grading
Difficulties following instructions during the grad-
ing Slipping into default mode or your comfort zone
(not showing us what you‟re really capable of)
Making unusual or inexplicable errors in your pat- tern/s during the grading
The Cure:
A daily dose of good old practice, practice and more practice
Mentally rehearsing patterns, self-defense respons-
es, seeing yourself doing amazing feats on the grad- ing floor.
Believing in yourself.
Taking risks and stepping outside your comfort zone.
Swallow all this whole and check to see the results.
All the Bribie team wish you a great year of training and growth through the ranks. Like everyone, we‟ve
struggled through the heat and going home from train-
ing hot and bothered. Hopefully the cool nights will soon be upon us and training will
be more comfortable.
The Bribie gang (Am I still legally able to use this
term?) wish to welcome young Nathan and Lauchlan
into our fold and trust that their journey with IMT is simply amazing in every respect. Both boys show
great promise and have just the right attitude to see
them fulfill their goal of achieving the rank Black Belt one day.
I heard that the camp went well though I send my apologies for not having attended due to an injury (or
old age). I‟m sure that those who attended had a great
time and learned a great deal from our troupe of highly skilled instructors.
Mike is hoping to re-join the Bribie club to co-instruct when he‟s feeling stronger. Thank you to everyone in
IMT for their relentless support of Mike during this
epic conquest against cancer. He‟s an absolute inspira-tion to us all and we are blessed to be surround by such
an amazing group of people – our IMT family.
Wishing everyone in IMT a truly great year of person-
al achievement in Taekwondo.
I would like to welcome all of the new stu-
dents who have joined Bald Hills for 2015
(making the class almost double in size!),
and also a big welcome back to all the other
students to another challenging, busy and
exciting year of training.
First off I would like to congratulate Mi-
chael Loeken on his promotion to 1st De-
gree Black Belt. He put in an amazing ef-
fort on such a hot day and made his instruc-
tor very proud (not often do you get to have

where it started. Here are few tips to make
your spin lightning fast. Turn your head
quickly; the faster your head moves the
faster your spin will be. This will also help
you spot your target ensuring an accurate
kick. As you are spinning you want to pull
your hands in close to your body, and then
put them back into your sparring position as
the kick is completed. Lastly you need to
keep your body up straight (don‟t lean).
Once you get good at spinning on the
ground, add a jump to practice your jump

jump spin kick is.
your own students undertake such an in-
tense grading).
With the first tournament coming up I
would like to see all of the students com-
pete, both the new and old students. Now
that we are growing in size and have a vari-
ety of ranks I should warn all of the other
clubs to watch out because the "Bald Hills
underdogs" are going to kick some butt.
A favourite technique of mine is the Spin
Hook Kick. For this technique to be effec-
tive it must be performed fast as all its pow-
er comes from speed. A good way to devel-
op a fast spin is to practice just the spinning
portion without executing the kick. Start

defence. With the grading following in 2 weeks time, it was
an excellent opportunity to refine our technique and gain
some confidence. As always, the session went way too fast,
and it was time to focus on set sparring. Everyone had an
opportunity to work on all basic forms of set sparring, the
newest members had a great time experiencing the higher
grade forms. There was a heavy focus on getting the first
counter attack in quickly, which all stems from good de-
fencive footwork and preparation to attack.
It was time for a bit of fun just before lunch, so we had a session on jumping kicks. These included the ones required
for the grading, but also a fun competition to see who could
fly the furthest doing a flying side kick! I swear some of us
were born to fly!
A much needed recharge was needed before the intense after-
noon session. First up after lunch was and hour of free spar-
Our first camp for 2015 was this year at a new venue on the
Gold Coast at the Tallebudgera Recreation Camp and what a
lovely location it was too! Situated in walking distance to
Tallebudgera Creek and the surf, the facilities were ideal for
training and having fun.
On Friday night, our outdoor training was interrupted by a bit
of rain, but being Friday the 13th, what else would you ex-
pect? Training shifted inside, where we continued on punch-
ing and footwork drills. This was to set a bit of a theme for
the weekend, as we worked a lot on our punching both as technique and as cardio.
On Saturday morning we were up early (some earlier than
others) for a stretch at the beach. Our bodies weren‟t too
sore yet, but we had a quick jog up the beach followed by a
good full body stretch.
After breakfast, the first session of the day focused on self
CAMP TALLEBUDGERA
ring. This was an opportunity to work on our punching skills, because after an hour, your legs don‟t lift as easy! After this in-
tense session, it was time to push our bodies to the absolute limit with Troy‟s circuit. The circuit started with a beep test, which
is a running drill designed to make you run faster as you get more and more tired. There was a high intensity pad work session
which drained more energy and then to top it all off… another beep test! A very special mention must go to Bree Humphries
from Kallangur, who was the last on the floor at the end of both beep tests! What an awesome effort from this young warrior!
As a bit of reward for everyone's hard work, the day was finished off with a game of soccer. It was Black Belts vs. Coloured
Belts, in a showdown for the ages! Well done to the coloured belts for their valiant effort, but the Black Belts were too well or-
ganised and worked well as a team to take the match. Afterwards, a lot of us headed to the creek for a recovery swim, while
others headed for their rooms for a recovery nap! It certainly was a long hard day of training.
The next morning, we were up early again for running and stretching. This time our bodies took a bit more time to warm up after the hammering they took the day before, but a good 4km run will help!
After refuelling at breakfast, we were pushed straight back into more cardio, this time with the Chief Instructor putting through a
boxing cardio session. We were kept moving for the whole hour, there was no time to rest. After the punishment was over, we
took it down a notch to practice some patterns, but after such a workout, pushing out strong patterns for an hour is no easy feet.
Luckily however, it was time for another hour of sparring! What a way to finish off an epic weekend,. Everyone pushed what
little energy they had left into the final session, and was left feeling exhausted, but with a sense of accomplishment on finishing
the strongest they could. This is the great thing about camps, they push you places you can never achieve in class, which is why
they‟re such a special experience. We look forward to seeing you all again in November for the next one.

Greetings and welcome to 2015 from the Bur-
pengary and Murrumba classes
Classes have been back for a few weeks and
we have quickly fallen into the routine train-
ing program. This Saturday is the first grad-
ing for 2015 and the first grading for Owen
(Burpengary), Ryan & Alex (Murrumba).
Best of luck to you all for your first grading
and I am sure you will do great.
Unfortunately I have not been able to do
much at class – except yell and shout - as I
have had a nagging injury in my foot for the
past few months which is becoming extremely
frustrating. It is a timely reminder that it is

working with different students from other
clubs improves you as a martial artist.
The boxing and cardio session the Chief In-
structor ran was great. If Mr Cameron is do-
ing that session a few times a week there is no
wonder he is extremely fit. We did 1/3 of the
session at Murrumba class last week and all
the students complained it was hard work.

sing on preparation for the tournaments as the
first one will be here before you know it.

should push themselves and their body hard
during training. However it is just as im-

injury is your body‟s way of telling you some-
thing is wrong. However in my defence the
reason why I have not gone back to the doctor
is I am a bloke and set in my ways
In this newsletter I am sure someone has writ-
ten a story about the recent camp at Talle-

2 students attend was disappointing. I am
aware the costs maybe significant but students
gain significant knowledge and additional
skills at these camps. These often show at
gradings and tournaments.

are in your journey.
They are a formal test of your knowledge
and technique in front of a
group of examiners.
It is up to you to show during
your grading how much you
have learned and how well
you can perform the tasks
asked of you.
Nobody else can do it for you
so you need to put in 100% on the day.
If you are grading, it means your instruc-
tor believes that you have both the ability
and confidence to do well.

Do not be disappointed if your instructor
says “NO” this time as it will only be
because they believe you are not quite
ready and want you to be able to put in
your best effort.
So next time you are wondering why you
are not grading this time, ask yourself if
you are really ready? Be honest with
yourself and you will realize that you are
not quite there. Knuckle down and prac-
tice hard and try for the next one.
Gradings aren‟t a right, they are a privi-
lege.
Just because it is 3 or 6 months since your
last grading, doesn‟t mean you are auto-
matically going to be grading.
It is completely up to your instructor and
they are not going to allow you to grade if
they believe you are not
ready.
There are a number of rea-
sons your instructor may
wish for you to not grade,
even if you are eligible time
wise. They include, missing lessons, attitude in class,
fitness and maturity among others.
Everybody is different and will travel
different paths on their road to martial
arts maturity. You need to grow into your

THE IMT WAY
For many years, IMT has been represented in different
demonstrations, tournaments and expos. There are always
many different styles of Martial Arts in attendance and many
different versions of those styles. So what defines each dif-
ferent Martial Art? And what does each variation have to
offer?
There is no easy answer to those questions. But a question
we can answer is… what makes us different?
Firstly, it’s foundation. Our foundation lies in the traditional
way of Tae Kwon Do. However, throughout many years of
development and influence, our “way” of doing things has been modernised from the traditional. The key elements that remain
the same are the technical aspects of basic techniques. How to block, punch and kick. What has changed, are the methods to
refine and apply those techniques so they reach their full potential. For example, you first learn how to throw a basic technique,
what our curriculum offers is... how to use those basic techniques together. We use different variations of patterns, basics and
set sparring which makes us unique. These basics and their application are our foundation. You will spend approximately the
first year and a half of your training with us learning and understanding these basics.
Secondly, keeping the standard. A good student is always looking for improvement. A good instructor will always facilitate
improvement. Our club motto is “Striving for Perfection” This is not some catch phrase or slogan, but a way of thinking about
your training. You may never achieve perfection, but it‟s pursuit is a worthy journey. There is always room for improvement
and there is always a standard to be achieved. So who sets the standard? We all do. Every instructor, assistant instructor and
student. Nobody knows how long you will train for, but every instructor treats you like you may one day run your own club,
even if you never do. We instil all of our knowledge to you in the hopes that one day you will do the same for someone else.
Thirdly, open-mindedness. Everything has merit. There is no right or wrong way of doing something. There is just a different
way. For every technique that there is, there is a variation. For every style of Martial Art, there is a variation. So which varia-
tion do you use? The one that is right for you. There are many different ways of achieving a goal, some are linear and easily
followed, others require you to work around a problem or view it from a different angle. Keeping an open mind allows us to
adapt, to evolve, to become something better of different. We treat our training the same way. If it works, use it. Nothing is
set in stone, everything is fluid. Martial arts is a personal journey, yours will never be the same as anyone else's. Keeping an
open mind means it will never be full. This is why we update our curriculum, cross train with other styles, seek out seminars.
It is all part of keeping an open mind.
Finally, the X factor. What makes us stand out? An X factor is usually something undefinable. You see it, but you‟re not
quite sure what it is. How do we know we have it? People tell us. At tournaments and demonstrations, we are always receiv-
ing compliments from other martial artists on our style. In Martial Arts, this is a very high form of praise. It would be l ike
Coke telling Pepsi that they really like their cola. So what is our secret ingredient? Well without under or overstating it , it is
our Chief Instructor, Mr Peter Cameron. The way he performs a technique, his understanding of it‟s application and the stand-
ard in which it is done is present in all of us. If you train long enough and attend more tournaments and demonstrations, you
will see this for yourself. But whether you realise it or not, you are part of a martial arts club that offers something extra.
Coming up in 2015:
New website. We are currently in final testing stage of out new look website. Robert Sandona has built our new site from scratch,
and it‟s looking great. We are putting the final touches on it now and we are looking to launch soon. We would like to share it with
you before it launches so you can test it as well for stability and make any suggestions of anything you would like to see on it. Keep
checking our Facebook page for more information.
Self Defence Days. There will be 3 self defence days this year, with 2 sessions held per day. The first is coming up in April, the
others will be in August and September. The first one will be ladies only, but the others will be open to anyone willing to learn self
defence. There will me more info as the ones later in the year draw closer.
Tournaments. After taking a year off from the tournament scene last year, we are looking at making an impact again in 2015.
There are plenty of tournaments around, so if you are interested, see your instructor for more information. They are a great way of
improving your skill and understanding.

Ormeau By Troy Johnson
2nd Degree Black Belt report Recently IMT was graciously invited to the
International Taekwondo Federation‟s Tour-
nament, held on the 21st of March. We had a
small handful of representatives go down,
Jason Parker, Cassie Sutherland, Leana John-
son and myself. We were lucky enough to
watch Jason take home gold in the senior
black belt, special techniques division, which
was AWESOME to watch. IMT sends its
thanks to the International Taekwondo Feder-
ation and for their invite to be part of such a
great day.
To finish off, the club of Ormeau wishes all
students grading, all the best, especially to all
the new white belts who will be experiencing
their first grading. The Ormeau club looks
forward to all training opportunities this year
and looks forward to training with the rest of
the clubs.
ing camp for the year. For those who have not
been fortunate enough to attend one of these
events, I encourage you to attend the next, as
it is a fantastic opportunity to learn from all
the instructors and knowledge
they have to offer, with over a
months‟ worth of training con-
tained in one weekend. This
camp was held down our end of
town, at Tallebudgera Recrea-
tional Centre. To those students
who missed this camp, you
missed my extremely FUN (torturous) cardio
session.
By now most of you should know about the
facilities that I own, Fighters Fitness 24/7
Martial Arts Training Centre. This is where
the Narangba class, taught by John Barron is
held, and I would like to extend an invite for
you to come down and do some training of
your own.
Welcome back to the year, and
good luck to all your 2015
goals. We would like start by
welcoming new students,
Blayne, Hayden and Michael to
the Ormeau club, we wish them
all the best with the start of
their martial arts journey. I would also like to
wish all my students a great training year, we

HELLO... from our newest club of The Institute
Of Modern Tae Kwon Do at Deception
Bay.
I have recently opened a new club at
Deception Bay, training out of the De-
ception Bay PCYC. I started my first
nights training on Monday 23rd Feb
2015. My lessons are Monday and
Thursdays from 5:30pm to 6:30pm,
Seniors and Juniors combined.
I have a good group of juniors training
hard and rearing to go for their first
grading this Saturday.
My students and I went to the Talle-
budgera Camp and had a fantastic time.
They learnt so much and all they want-
ed to do was all the fun stuff from the
Camp sessions on Saturday but I had to
get them prepared for The Grading, so
it was back to basics but I think we still
all had fun. So I look forward to seeing
you all at the grading on Saturday.
GRADE STRONG!
Training tip
Treat training as a new experience try-
ing different things you may have seen
on TV, YouTube and/or from other
styles, it's a great way of keeping train-
ing exciting.

and bathroom facilities. It is recommended you bring a roll of toilet paper, insect repel-lent, torch, umbrella, dish soap, any personal electronic equipment & games you may

when on site, so no litter to be left.
Getting to the camp is easy and should take around 2 hours from the north side. Just trav-
el down the Bruce Hwy towards the Gold Coast, exit the Bruce Hwy at exit 69 and turn
right onto Southport-Nerang Rd. Go over the Hwy and follow the road towards the NSW
border, in will turn into Beaudesert-Nerang Rd and then into Nerang-Murwillumbah Rd. It
will take approx. 30mins to arrive at the camp.
