ABSTRACT

Weather forecasting is important to anticipate erratic weather changes, so a tool is needed

that can measure the temperature, humidity and air pressure values. Data displayed on several

weather forecast websites and Android applications do not specifically mention the location

and usually information is only available for big cities. This makes it difficult for us to know

weather forecasts in mountainous areas or far from the city, one of which is at the Lereng Kelir

Tourist, where the solution is given through this thesis in the form of a local weather station.

Because there is no electricity network in the Lereng Kelir, solar panels are used as the

main source of weather stations. This tool uses three different sensors, namely temperature

sensors, humidity sensors, and air pressure sensors. The sensor readings will be processed by

the microcontroller and uploaded to Twitter social media so that potential tourists can monitor

the state of Lereng Kelir. Data that has been uploaded to Twitter will be stored in the Dropbox

storage system so that managers can see weather records.

From the tests that have been carried out, the system can process temperature data (℃),

humidity (%), and air pressure (Pa) to inform whether the weather at the Tourist Point of the

Lereng Kelir is rainy or bright. These results can be viewed on Twitter for two hours and

Dropbox ten minutes later. The energy needed at this local weather station is 26.64 Wh smaller

than the energy produced in charging the battery is 69.12 Wh. So the energy obtained by the

battery from the solar panel can supply the device even at night.
