KCS Expanding Opportunitiesfor Students

Kannapolis CitySchools iscontinuing toexpand theopportunities that itoffers to students.During the 2018-19school year, KCSadded magnet

programs in A+ Arts, Global Studies, and SpanishLanguage Immersion. All of those programs are open toelementary students living anywhere within the KCSdistrict, which means more options for students andtheir families. KCS also has added other innovativeprograms at the elementary level, including Classroomsof Tomorrow, Real School Gardens, and Learn Well/LiveWell. At the middle and high school levels, KCS hasadded courses in Engineering, Information Technology,and Graphic Design that give students broader options.KCS even gives students internship and apprenticeshipopportunities. Thanks to partnerships with WayneBrothers Construction, Hilbish Ford, and S&D Coffee,

The Kannapolis Rotary Club is proud to offer scholasticscholarships to qualifying seniors graduating from A.L.Brown High School, Kannapolis, NC. Just to name afew, recent scholarship recipients have enrolled incolleges such as UNC Chapel Hill, Appalachian StateUniversity, UNC Pembroke, Catawba College, NC StateUniversity, Central Piedmont Community College,Rowan Cabarrus Community College andTrevecca Nazarene University. TheKannapolis Rotary Club salutes thestudents and faculty of Kannapolis CitySchools for their rewarding commitment.

Team mulligans available for $40, and allows for (1)mulligan and (1) green tee per player.

KCS students can complete apprenticeship programsduring high school and have guaranteed job offers assoon as they graduate. Apprenticeship students alsoare eligible to receive scholarships that allow them toattend college for free.

KCS is finding other ways to expand Career TechnicalEducation programs. For example, students can nowtake courses in the areas of public safety, and they willsoon have the chance to be trained in advancedmanufacturing. In addition, KCS students are earningcertifications in the fields of welding, internettechnology, nursing fundamentals, and more. Duringthe 2018-19 school year, KCS students earned $2.5million in college scholarships, and many enteredhigh paying jobs right out of high school thanks tocompleting apprenticeship programs or earning careercertifications in high school.

KCS will continue to offer these life changingopportunities for students at all levels and will workto add more options in the years to come. Having thesupport of the community to build these programs isvital, and KCS is extremely grateful for the support ofthe Kannapolis Rotary Club in giving our studentseven more opportunities to succeed.
