Freas, Ph.D. Global Water Resources and Ecosystem Management Director Water Business Group Kathy Freas is CH2M HILL's Global Director for Water Resources and Ecosystem Management Services. In this role, she is responsible for ensuring that CH2M HILL offers the water community the most innovative approaches, people, processes, and tools to help resolve water management challenges. As part of this global role, she leads the development of Water Portfolio Management services and tools that can be used to optimize the integrated management of built and natural components of the water cycle for sustainable water management solutions. Dr. Freas also leads climate change adaptation services for CH2M HILL, developing defensible and practical approaches to address the challenges facing water, agriculture, energy, and the environment as result of climate change effects and impacts. Education Dr. Freas earned her doctorate in population biology from New Mexico State University. She also received her master’s degree in biology from New Mexico State University, and a bachelor’s degree in wildlife biology from Michigan State University. Professional Affiliations Dr. Freas is actively engaged in multiple professional organizations. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Water Education Foundation and is a member of the American Water Works Association, American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Institute of Biological Sciences, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and Sigma Xi-The Scientific Research Society. Dr. Freas provides technical guidance and oversight for several of the most critical projects that address climate change and water management in the United States.
