    DISCUSSION BOARD INSTRUCTIONS

As part of the collaborative learning environment, you are required to interact with your classmatesand course instructor in three Discussion Board forums. The interaction within this setting makesup a significant portion of your grade for this course.

For each of the two graded forums, the instructor will provide you with a thought-provokingtopic that will help start your online discussion. Each forum is completed in two parts over thecourse of two weeks. In the first week of the forum, you will post a new thread thatdirectly addresses the prompt provided by the instructor. In the subsequent week, you will posttwo meaningful replies to at least two classmates threads. Thus, for each forum you are requiredto post a minimum of 3 times: 1 thread and 2 replies. The instructor will observe onlinediscussions throughout the assigned weeks and may interject his or her comments intermittently.Feel free to respond to the instructor's comments in addition to the required replies to your classmates' postings. Follow the guidelines provided below as you complete each part of theforums.

THREAD: Respond to the questions/ideas that are presented in the instructors prompt. Summarize any related ideas that are presented in the textbook. For example, if the

prompt asks you to identify issues that readers encounter, then you should summarizeany reasons or examples that are discussed in the textbook.

Include at least two quotes from the assigned Fee and Stuart readings. Formal footnotes/endnotes are not required; just include the authors name and page

number(s) for students and instructors to check context. Your initial thread should be at least 250 words composed in three paragraphs. Threads are due the stated deadline of the first week the forum is assigned.

REPLIES: First, summarize what you think your classmate intended to communicate in his/her thread

in order to remind readers of the ideas in your classmates thread and to clarify andmiscommunication or misinterpretation that may occur.

Second, commend at least one good point that he/she raised in his/her thread. Explain whyyou identified that particular point raised by your classmate.

Third, contribute new information or ideas to further the discussion; present additionalfacts, Scriptures, or applications to the current discussion that have not yet been mentioned,or redirect the discussion to another appropriate path.

Finally, encourage your classmate to continue growing in their understanding of organization, administration, and spiritual development, and/or type out a positive prayer tothe Lord on behalf of your classmate.

Each reply should be at least 100 words composed in one paragraph. Replies are due by the stated deadline of the second week the forum is assigned.

Review the Discussion Board Grading Rubric to see the specific criteria on which you will begraded.
