As parents we want our children to be kind and

loving people. Beyond forming our children into

good followers of Christ, scientific studies have

shown that kindness has physical and emotional

benefits. The brain actually changes by the

experience of kindness. We feel better about

ourselves and take better care of ourselves when

we share kindness!

You can make kindness a family affair. When a friend or neighbor is sick,

you can get your children involved in in helping the person by assisting you in making a meal for the person, writing a get

well card or visiting the person.

Perform small acts of kindness with your children. For example when mowing your lawn, mow your neighbor’s lawn and

have your children mow their lawn.

When you have too much of something or are ready to clean out the closets of clothes that no longer fit, have your child

help in boxing up the extra things and go with you to take them to a shelter, the church or another charity. Suggest having

your child go through his toys and pick out three to give away.
