Font styles and types are consistent and would appear aesthetically pleasing in the view of consumers.

As fonts used for both the band name and album title are each the same size, colour and font style,

this creates consistency and would prevent annoyance among the audience as everything appears in

place, looking neat and professional. The small fonts may have been used to ensure they do not

dominate the cover and appear overwhelming in the opinion of consumers. The simplistic presentation

looks very effective and professional. Text is displayed in capital letters and is in a sharp bold font to

    make it stand out.

The cover design appears quite simple but the effectiveness remains. The colour theme is kept

consistent using a pale grey and white background , taking a basic monotone approach. As the palegrey does not stand out massively against the white background, this may make the images less

obvious and the cover appearing empty to some extent this unusual aesthetic approach would entice

the audiences to take a closer look at the cover to establish the design and figure out what is

displayed, resulting in the public taking more of an interest and being more likely to purchase a copy as

    a result.

The use of a !"# layout is effective as it enables the design to flow and gives good structure to the cover

which the audience would subconsciously find aesthetically appealing. The purpose of this layout is to

ensure the audience takes in the information in order of importance through the !"# method, the name

of the band is able to be recognised first followed by the image which would allow the viewer to

establish the band image after knowing the name and pairing the two items of information together. This layout would attract the attention of the audience and may have been included to form star image

motif as !$outh and $oung %anhood# was their debut album released and &ings of 'eon were at the

time new entering into the industry, they needed to ensure audiences could recognise their image to

potentially increase fan base and ensure the public were aware of who they are. (ith regards to the

inside panels )left, inside centre left and inside left* images used create a sense of disorientation and

do not seem to suggest anything through the choice of combination. This would therefore intrigue the

customer and would increase interest as they would want to make a connection and make sense of it.

This is very much suited to the genre of music published by the band and again uses monotone colour

schemes ensuring consistency and matching the theme of music appropriately.

The design of this album conforms to traditional garage and southern rock bands who

often promote themselves through featuring dull colours relating to the style of music they

publish, city+urban style and often taking the simplistic approach. %ost designs feature

band members which has been something the &ings f 'eon chose to include twice )front

    and back panel images.*

The front cover panel uses fourmain layers; the closest to usbeing the band name (‘BombayBicycle Club’) and the albumname (‘Flaws’) This wasformatted to achieve an indieroc! genre style font typed incapital letters to ensure that thete"t stands out and the audienceare encouraged to read Thiscover panel te"t has also beenformatted in terms of font si#eand colour in order to $t in withthe rest of the design and createconsistency for the product as awhole The basic yet%tylish font type allows the frontcover design to appearminimalistic and therefore noattention of the audience isdiverted away from the image asthis would be the main focuspoint of the digipa! front coverand would draw the

audience into ta!ing more of an interest The font colour helps to achieve consistency throughout the overall the product as this isalso the colourof the bac!ground layer of the digipa! which is featured on every panel This develops the stylishness and is therefore moreaesthetically pleasing for the audience who would be more li!ely to ta!e interest in the digipa! if they li!ed the loo! of it The albumtitle and band name are centre aligned and rotated vertically on the front cover panel& contributing towards achieving the ‘'’ layoutwhich involves points of focus of the audience to ensure the design is neat and appealing nother layer featured on the front coverpanel of Flaws is the image of a female espite being unrelated to the band and giving little insight into the trac!s featured on thealbum& * feel this e+ective in representing the indie genre lthough& this challenges the typical indie digipa! front cover whichtends to feature the artist, band themselves as a form of star image motif’s and increasing the audience awareness of the artists

'owever this is not un!nown; there are e"amples of indie bandsopting not to employ the idea of featuring themselves on the cover&

but instead using others who suit the intended loo! and appear

interesting in the eyes of the target audience -"amples include rtic.on!eys / 0hatever people say * am& that’s what *’m not’ This albumfeatures a male who suits the style of the album and trac!s featuredon it& but is not a band member lso& 1ampire 0ee!end 2 ‘Contra’features a polaroid girl from 3456 which creates an edgy statement

front cover suited to the indie genre The female featured on the cover of the ‘Flaws’ album shows little emotion is and is li!ely to interest and grabthe attention of the target audience as the minimalistic& natural loo! ma!es a statement in a basic form andwould stand out ne"t to other typical indie roc! genre covers which usually ta!es the approach of using a bold&bright colour scheme The colour scheme used on the Flaws digipa! is !ept consistent throughout the entire product and achieves astylish& simple& classic loo!ing digipa! design This helps develop a sense of innocence and purity behind thedesign as the neutral colours (s!in toned & white and blac!) paired with the natural loo!ing image of the

female appearing in a minimalistic form with little e"pression on her face captured through a close up camerashot portray feelings of heartache and emptiness This would be li!ely to intrigue the target audience andencourage them to pic! up a copy to $nd out the meaning behind this and the relation this has to the album
