The covid-19 pandemic has earned a position in world history
as a challenging tragedy. Airlines grounded; hotels closed
and strict travel restrictions imposed by nearly all countries.
Yet, when kozi was curated, the target user was the budget
traveler, so is this still the case even after Covid? Some have
asked, we take a quick SWOT analysis of opportunities kozi
would seize to weather this stormy episode and run as intended.
Strengths
· Unlike Mombasa which is a tourist town, Nairobi is
also a business hub.
· Domestic tourism is a buffer.
· Adaptation capacity i.e we can adapt to responsible
travel behavior.
COVID-19situation

Weaknesses
· Kozi is a start-up.
· Disruption of airline industry.
· Low demand when restarting travel due to
social distancing.
Opportunities
· Kozi unit typologies, due to social distancing there
will be high demand for single dwelling units where
travelers have an opportunity to make their own
meals.
· Kozi proximity to the airport is still a plus because
even as travelers numbers may decrease we can
use the location to our advantage as we market.
· Exploring other niche products like meetings,
conventions, domestic tourism etc in order to
host participants.
Threats
· Uncertain length of pandemic & possibility of its
resurgence.
· Extent of lock downs and travel restrictions
· Lack of knowledge on the ‘new normal’
Conclusion
The recovery for the travel and tourism industry will be
gradual but it will happen, hence the reason kozi will still
be for short stays and we have started engaging prospective
property managers and reviewing proposals, If you have
